Holy Shit! I guess we need to somehow figure out how Rockstar North games are RPG's! So we can get sweet goodies, invited to parties, and exclusive dinners provide completely unbiased objectionable game reviews. :obviously:
I've seen it done on gamasutra hundreds of times...totally doable.

consumers can (probably) rely on amateur reviewers and niche review sites which are, if nothing else, small and arcane and (in the case of the Codex) completely beyond-the-pale enough to avoid getting themselves caught up in this kind of nonsense;
Yes, unless it's an Obsidian KickStarter with free goodies promised by MCA and the site's main Administrator is told to be silent about his criticism for their RTwP crap which is being based on a shitty game engine. :smug:

Think the Codex is above it all do you? :smug:

Not so smug about it now, huh? :smug:

And another unsuspecting mainstream developer converted thanks to grotsnik:

I'm afraid that, from now on, all our articles have to be written by grotsnik if we want to maintain our new reputation.

Fuck 'em. If they like us they like us. Heat and kitchens and all that.

I can just imagine us swelling in the attention and begin to conform to these twats.

Nah, but seriously, let's enjoy that some of the mainstream get the point for once. If we're lucky, they might conform a bit to us instead ;)

San Andreas had character progression. GTAIV had personality choices that would alter the story. Now if they were to combine the two...

With gaming, there are also such considerations as PC interface vs. tablet interface and the way they influence what kinds of games are available on the PC and what on tablets, etc. However, if I read a book on mathematics or a piece of literary criticism, what changes if I read it in pdf compared to reading it as a physical copy? I often do both, and often switch between the two.
Well now. PDFs are something completely different as the typesetting and formatting is done beforehand. A better comparison would be reading a txt file.

Why would you compare reading a physical book with reading a txt file and not a pdf?

Excuse me. I thought this was an argument about typesetting and formatting. :?

Ah yes the "who the fuck are you" argument. I'm surprised it's taken this long to come out.

I can't refute any points you made, so I'll just insult the author!

Marsal I'm partly responsible for the editing, so I argue about the editing. You posted a "retarded" smiley in response to my post, so I replied to your post.
Well your editing skills are obviously found lacking as evident from the comments. Instead of reading about the topic and improving the way of presenting online content (yes, there is more to it than pressing space and enter a couple of times every few sentences), you chose to argue, posting ignorant statements and now you act insulted when called on it.

Then do some more reading about the topic and stop being an ignorant idiot, spouting bullshit about things you know nothing about.

Well, the analogy is between two different mediums, digital and physical. Are digital books better or worse than physical books? For gaming, a similar thing would be to ask if physical boxes are better or worse than digital copies, not if PC gaming is better or worse than tablet gaming. Choosing between two kinds of games - PC or tablet-based - can be likened to choosing between two kinds of books - say, ‘serious’ fiction or ‘light’ fiction - not between two kinds of medium. That's why your analogy doesn't work.

Checkmate atheists! There are more reasons than input and size limitations alone for games being mostly "casual" on phones and tablets.

The differences are more than digital vs physical. In fact, that is an (almost) irrelevant distinction from that perspective. The problem is you don't understand what a pdf file is and are looking at the issue from a completely wrong angle (fuck you IDtenT, you ninja!).

Think about what happens when you resize a book, a book in pdf format or the browser window. What distance are you reading your book/pdf/web site from? What size is the page/window/window? How big are the fonts in each case? Are you leaning back in a chair or sitting straight? Now work from that.

Most differences are subtle. It adds up and readers just don't feel as comfortable reading the text. It's not a huge problem, but it is a problem. A problem that is not difficult to address and a problem that the "person partly responsible for the editing" should address (with something other than a couple of retarded posts). Acknowledge the criticism and bring it up with DU. It's cool. No one is expecting you to do anything more.

Or maybe you'd like to continue doing it your way? Then a retarded rant is definitely the way to go! Perhaps Grunker can help you with that? Still butthurt, old chap? I'll be more gentle next time

People have made a science out of typography. It's all there, just waiting for you. If you can't intuitively "understand" it, use Google and apply your awesome reading skills.
