I tried Xeen today, but the graphics were so fucking ugly, I stopped after 3 minutes. My first RPG on PC was Lands of Lore I and it made me a graphics whore, because the graphics were simply awesome and detailed compared to any other RPG at that time. Can't touch anything below that. I guess MMX will be my first real MM.

:mob:

You really know how to say all the wrong things here... don't you?

Now, I will admit that WoX is my second favorite MM game with MMVI being the one that just holds that slight edge to me.

I am with Crispy. I too, have delved into popamole because of the lack of quality incline over the past 13 years or so.
If it only has 25 hours I guess I will deal with it, the game looks better than the popamole I have been playing in shame. We must have incline before some mothas start dying around here.

sounds awesome in every department apart from drm. I might buy the game and just play pirate afterwards.... but then should I support nasty drm policy?

If the game does turn out to be good, I'd say you should buy it if only to see M&M XI made.

Also one-time activation on UPlay isn't any worse than what Steam does. So if you can tolerate Steam, chances are you won't mind UPlay either.

EDIT: Edited to avoid derail.
I can't, so I won't. A decision I would really struggle with but luckily I never got into M&M's so I won't have to struggle between my need to support an old-school-style RPG and my need to not support online activations/DRM-schemes.

After 10 years of refusing games with online-activation (started by Steam) my hope in the community eventually died. Too many people just didn't care about DRM and made online-activation accepted by the masses. The Lemmings could have voted with their purse against these restrictions, but they didn't. Now it is too late, as at least the 1-time-activation counts as an established "standard", which at minimum 95% of players accept. Any protest against this standard will be ignored and never taken seriously. Never will the DRM change back again.

As a matter of fact, I have decided to stop my resistance this year and MMX will most likely be the first game after my gameless years (since Dragon Age). As a sign of respect however I'll buy their game (as long as the DRM is an easy getaround with an .exe from a pirated version).

theSavant there are places you can buy DRM free games. Gog, Amazon, GamersGate.

Personally, I find online activation to be less of a hassle than cd keys, so it doesn't bother me.

Most games I see on Gog never had online-activation, but only simple CD-copy protection. No wonder they can offer these games as a hassle free download. No one wants to touch the code again of these (mostly) older games, only to implement some online DRM. I doubt MMX will get the chance for that.

MMX is already confirmed to have uPlay, I was just speaking generically that there are places where you can buy DRM free games.

I honestly don't buy the DRM argument as a reason to pirate games. If you're going to pirate games, you're going to pirate them. It requiring you to hit a button once while online to unlock offline mode forever doesn't magically turn people into thieves. Obtrusive stuff like no offline mode at all or terrible systems like Starforce that actually compromise your system can certainly drive people away, but otherwise? Eh.

If Uplay requires me to hit a single button once you'll have a point. I suspect it'll involve signing up an account, with a valid email (which will be sent more spam mail) and some bullshit captcha code or inane password copying or requirements.

I put up with that shit for steam because it also offers considerable convenience in browsing for new games and downloading them fairly quickly in one easy reliable place. Uplay offers no benefit whatsoever.

Well, presumably promoting DRM use by purchasing games that use it would prevent a good conscience. Though I'll probably do what you said. Given the choice between a good game with DRM and a shit game without, the former is the lesser of two evils. Though I'll probably try it before buying in case it's horribly flawed.

This and most likely requiring to run that "once-only" activation every time you reinstall the game or you get a new video card. Plus you'll have bloated malware floating in the back, taking up CPU time and RAM. And you're not actually owning the game because the day will come when the DRM-servers are turned off and so on. We've had this conversation hundreds of times already, Zeriel. I can live without Steam/Origin/Uplay games.
