I was a fan of BG2 when I entered the Codex, but I always had my doubts and reservations. The more I played and discuss things, the more doubts and reservations I had. It’s an indefensible game, pure and simple.

So, you're saying that you liked the game, but then find out that some of the most notable gentlemen on the Codex didn't and thus you had to change your view to be more in tune with some guys on the internet. PoE is a game for people who already know crpgs though.

PoE is a game for lobotomized seacrabs strung up on MDMA. No sane mammal should touch that reeking piece of garbage with a 10ft. pole.

I think this just reflects how most AD&D players are crude individuals. They enjoy infantile banters, killing things and taking overpowered loot with an epic soundtrack.

Good thing your refined sensibilities are there to show us the way.

Nope. I’m saying that I liked some stuff in the game and hated others, but as time passes, I played more challenging games, discussed more analysis and understood what was wrong with the things I liked in Baldurs. The opinion of notable gentlemen has nothing to with it. Felipepe is one of the most notable gentlemen in the Codex and he is a BG2 fanboy. In fact, if I was easily influenced by other people’s opinion I would be probably enjoying the likes of “D:OS” and “TW3” since so many notable codexers enjoy this garbage. It sounds incredible to you, but some posters actually care about that thing called ARGUMENTS and have another thing called MENTAL FLEXIBILIT. What would be the point of spending more time in the Codex if I couldn’t learn anything and improve my taste?

Nope. Growing up and changing tastes is fine. I used to think KotOR was the best game ever when I was 13, now I don't think it's the pinnacle of RPG design. The thing is I didn’t even have the time to crystallize my tastes, because all the cRPGs I played, I played only recently and in a very short time. I didn’t played BG as kid, I played console RPGs as a kid. I played BG a few years ago. In fact, I played everything that I could put my hands with, from BG2, IWD, IWD2, Oblivion, NWN, NWN2, MotB to FO, FO2, FO:NV, KOTOR, KOTOR 2, DA:O and PS:T. And I played all this without any resemblance of order, just digging in the internet. Only then I found out about AoD, kickstarter and the Codex. The fact is that abandoning ideas that doesn’t work are a moral imperative for me.

I don’t worship the guy, I respect him, and that is a big difference. In fact, someone could argue that I respect him only because he tends to say the things I agree with in the first place. And by the way, is not as if he is the only heretic here who has a personal distaste for Baldurs.
