UE5 should finally have SSD caching friendly system from the get-go and shader compilation can be avoided by shader preload. Hopefully we will get that on day one.

You must be delusional, they couldn't even get preload working on PC, let alone shader compilation. They probably don't even know what that means.

That's actually not uncommon among UE devs, surprisingly. Croteam only implemented shader pre-caching only after people started mentioning it on the forums (and the fact, that it stuttered like hell because of that).

it looks virtually identical to a 2016 game
What 2016 game looks that good?
Crysis?
ARK Survival Evolved is from 2017. I haven't done any side-by-side comparisons, and I'm sure there are technical differences beyond my understanding, but animal and plant models are quite detailed and numerous.
Looking back, I think the most graphically impressive game of 2016/2017 was Battlefield 1

Actually I meant 2019. Specifically metro exodus. If you ran a side by side comparison I would challenge anyone to point out where s2 looks better other than slightly sharper textures.

We're being expected to pay exponentially more money for increasingly marginal improvements. The specs are a joke, gay upscaling now an expected standard.

It's p. convenient of you to ignore the fact that all the Metro games are more advanced graphically because that's what they focus(ed) on: their graphics. They aren't open-world games like the STALKER games are and thus more time, effort, and hardware can be dedicated to the visuals in them.

STALKER 2 looks great. Calm down.

There's also the point where you've got to play Metro. Why would anyone want to do that? Total dog shit franchise.

I'll be happy as long as the gameplay is no worse than Call of Pripyat's and we get some new shit to explore.

what engine is this made on again?

If it's still based on their old engine it will "mod will fix it" no matter how bad the release is

UE5, so there's infinitely more chances of good mods, as devs can make tools in UE5 for everyone to use (though maintaining them must be a pain in the ass, so it could happen only when the game's updating cycle post release is done)

In 2024 you need to upgrade your graphics card for the privilege of rendering at a lower resolution than you did with your older card :mixedemotions:

Why are people bitching so much about raising system requirements in games? Are you all GenZ/millenial/whatever the fuck? You have your first computers? When was the last time you bought your PC and if it was low-end or more than 3 years ago why should new games work on it in 666 FPS 16k? You think you just buy computer once and play on it for eternity? This is kind of complains I can understand on Reddit or retardEra because average mental age of their users should be 15, but on a 'dex? Is it a 'dex Z now? And out of all fucking people in here it's Kang Crispy that provides a voice of reason? What the fuck, did I wake up in another dimension this morning?
