A whole bunch of KSes ran with family/friend units.

There is a difference of having less that 10 people and having over 200 employers.

It looks inappropriate to investors because they will see it as you putting your family on the payroll and if they have qualifications, thats the end of it but what if they dont? this is a sign of how the company will be managed ... small business is lesser issue because that is not really viewed as much of a issue but on larger company when hiring family and friends for key positions? will that not be the norm on hiring practices and doesnt that implies the qualifications take a backseat in terms of having a personal relationship with the company managers?

This is why it looks inappropriate to set your family in management positions and CIG isnt a family restaurant.

I think the issue is less that she's his wife and more that she was put in charge of marketing and she's incompetent. When you look at that and see she's the bosses wife it makes more sense why they wouldn't just spend a fraction of that $120 million to hire an experienced marketing rep with an actual degree.
Why waste money on professional employees when you can get a gilded hot tub instead?

They earned over 120 Mio $$ without shipping any product. I wouldn't call that incompetent. That's pure marketing right there.

It's like you've watched the first half of Titanic and said to yourself, "What a successful cruise!"

There's a huge fall coming for the honey trap of a game that would only be slightly redeemed if CR's horrible wife divorced his ass the minute the tides of popular opinion turned.

I hear Brian Fargo is single...

Regardless, Chris has already won...the good life for a few years. Then can declare bankruptcy and do it all again from scratch. He's a top tier version of Cleve who has more modest goals with his IndieGogo scams that just pay for his pizzas for a year or three.

Problem is there's no fall. Not really. The beauty of these KS schemes is that you're not liable if you end up failing or producing a sub par result so long as you can show a good faith effort. Is Roberts wasting money on pointless shit? Yes, but he's obviously trying to create a game. People who give money to this aren't investors. They don't own stock. And they can't sue Roberts for anything when it crashes and burns.

Roberts is charge of all the money and can justifiably issue himself a $500,000/yr annual salary (if not more) for running this thing as the CEO or Executive Producer or whatever.

A company not being able to ship a finished product is hardly the fault of the marketing department. On contrary, it makes the marketing shop a lot harder.

Four years in development with laughably little to show for it and we still have dumbfucks defending and even paying for this turd. How can anyone manage to NOT produce anything worth shit with so much time and money? And with so much drama and controversy to boot.

The beauty of these KS schemes is that ...

Well its not in KS for quite a while now, if you mean crowdfunded then yes but KS at least have some checks and if it fails, the money is returned.

This is why the government wants to step in and give some of the insurances investors have instead of being in the void as it is now, if you think he isnt liable you have another thing coming, when things are too big to fail and then fail ... well Mighty Nº 9 might be shit but at least shipped and didnt cost +100 million ....

Returning the KS money is entirely up to the project owner. KS doesn't enforce any rules about it. You either reach out to the owner or take legal action.

I did not meant that, I meant if it fails to reach the goal ... in that case money is not charged.

Compare it with Pantheon that is you are giving your money to that person and thats it, KS have more defined rules and if you have to take legal action you at least have a better case were others are more ... "undefined", one of the reasons Chris taken it out of KS was ... well to begin KS keeps 5% (they all do take a cut) and also because if things get nasty he can return the KS money but not the one he raised since that one no longer falls under KS TOS but rather his TOS.

Our good old friend Smart did gone over this when they changed the TOS, the trick in a KS scam is you meet the goal, get the money from KS and run away with it and hopefully dont get caught ... you do have to meet the goal otherwise it doesnt work, unlike Patheon that is a Long Con, not a smash-and-grab.

Wow, there is actually a game in there. I have to say, this shit looks amazing. Makes you wonder what this game could have been if the devs weren't bogged down with the stupid FPS mode and shit like that. If they concentrated on making a good space sim, we might have a game by now.

Seeing the crowd cheering like hell, I have no doubts that these videos will bring in another few millions for Chris Roberts.

Actually FPS might be the thing that will save Star Citizen from becoming vaporware.
