CIG did Star Citizen Live podcast when their lead engineer talked about bugs etc. after Chris watched some big streamer play SC and got stuck in elevator and uninstalled game instantly he decided that enough is enough and CIG will finally stop adding new features and go hard on fixing bugs for whole 2025
Roflmao, got a link for this one, pwetty pwizz?

TLDR: they are basically ending alpha development because game is too broken to play and transfer it to live service early access game.
Potato, potata, batata, they are just slapping different titles on top of each other, in the end of the day its still a video game that has been in development for over a decade with the very basics still fucking broken =/

IDK who it was let me check.

And yes it matter actually. The reason why it was broken all the time is because they were releasing quarterly new features to their game and only cared about making it run but not fix everything as new incoming features will either way brake things.

So instead of fixing say ship A not haing all components it should have they won't fix it because there will be further feature updates with damage model that will either way need to rework ships so it would be wasted time (if you can believe it).

Now they outright say that they stop feature developement and focus entire 2025 on bug fixing. Which awfully coincides with SQ42 polish phase... and since SQ42 is leading the tech for both games (aside from multiplayer stuff) it sounds like excuse to not anger whales who fund CIG via SC.

Now that 1.0 and 42 are "set for next year", we may get a glorified beta for any or both, assuming half of what they have announced now was more than the last 10 years of snake oil marketing.

SQ42 is announced for 2026.

1.0 of SC has no date but at least it has roadmap for 1.0:

Core features missing till 1.0:
- maelstrom damage system (unified force based damage system across all items/ships/people/structures)
- engineering (move ships and structures to resource network)
- base building (both on planet and in space) and crafting

Content missing:
- 5 systems total (2 done already)
- main story akin to SQ42 + sidequests which will work as tutorial and introduction.
- guilds + expansive missions system for all of them

It's getting close to feature complete but content wise it will need a lot of work so minimum 5 years assuming features won't slip it like rest of development.
Don't know what to believe anymore. It really sucks that the competition for SC is pretty much dead, and the closest stuff like Elite Dangerous never made the cut behind all its endless grind.

Might pick up Freelancer or Starlancer out of curiosity, just to see what a Roberts finished game looks like.

If you have a good server, or friends to make a server with, then look no further this is already SC.

The reason why it was broken all the time its because their management suck balls and their priorities are fucked, the game has been in development so long, in such a frankenstein way, with such an high rotation of employees, that most of them are probably clueless about what the fuck they are even working on.

This is just another one of those "Jesus patch/tech will just fix everything!" moment.

With your own server you can change the "realism" or spergness.
