I didn't remember playing through "Heart of Winter" being so short, then again, I probably know it too well for my own good. Anyway I'm now deciding if I play "Trials of the Luremaster" or just go to the sea of moving ice and finish HoW. We'll see... in the meantime :

I have always regretted the absence of any lore/information about those dead dwarves.

One item in "Trials of the luremaster" makes this 18/90 pretty useful, for a wizard, I wished mine was that strong.:(

I still don't know what to do with my thief. I don't know the rules well enough, but if I remember right six levels of thief gets you some of the bonuses you'd want; and then from that I could dual-class into an illusionist.

There are no special bonuses when leveling, these are 2ed, not 3ed rules, so you only get the % increase in thieves skills each level. You can choose to dual class whenever you feel you have enough in the different thieves skills.

* Thieves get new abilities:
Sneak Attack -
An alternative to backstabbing (must be switched in the
options menu). Doesn't require being in shadows, merely that
you are behind or to the side of the enemy. The damage is an
extra 1d6 for every 4 levels of experience. Critical hits do
not double the sneak attack damage.

Evasion -
At 7th level, thieves can evade effects (such as Fireball,
Lightning bolt, etc.), the thief can Save to completely evade
the spell (as opposed to Saving and getting half damage).
You cannot evade your own effects (such as a Mage/Thief
casting fireball right in front of himself).

Crippling Strike -
At 5th level, thieves learn how to cripple their
opponents. Crippling only works WITH the Sneak Attack. A
successful cripple causes the victim to suffer a -1 to attack,
at 9th level -2 to attack and damage, at 13th level -3 to
attack and damage, etc. (every 4 levels another -1 to attack
and damage)

Shit, I didn't know that. I don't give a fuck about sneak attacks, but evasion is nifty. Is it in the vanilla game or one of the expansions ?

HoW made those changes, I think. The 3E version sneak attack is pretty useful except that, like 2E backstab, crucial enemies usually had immunities anyway.

(Nice screenies set BTW)

Thanks for the info. So stopping at 4, 5, or 7 seems to make the most sense (if I'm reading that right).

Rename this thread to Baldur's Gate Screenshot thread.
It's Icewind Dale. Anyway I won't post any more IE screenies, since I'm now playing :

Checking out Sangin Green Zone map for ArmA 2. It's 5x5 km so it's bigger than Skyrim but by ArmA standards it's a small map.

Just like in real life it has a lot of vegetation, which may hide nasty unbros.
So let's hunt for them.

A few minutes later ISAF forces are getting ambushed. Taliban is firing at us right from that treeline.

Wheatfields can be so high it's easy to get lost in them.

Moving further into the enemy territory across the little river that runs nearby

Upon approaching Afghanistan's most important resource we are immediately ambushed.

Taliban is firing somewhere from that direction, but it's hard to see. Their tracers sometimes going over our heads give the general idea.

A Taliban compound spotted just across Afghanistan's second most important resource.

Direct approach is a little too exposed.

So it's time to call for some help.

So you ran around some fields for 20 minutes and then ordered an airstrike on the enemy base. How is this a "game"? At least CoD involves some skill through twitch shooting.

True. Skills of spotting, not getting shot, hitting a target that with wind and bullet drop/ricochet, manouvering you have to actually gain. Where's the fun in that.

That's not quite the accurate game for comparison. In reality, his character was looking for a bunch of middle-aged guys - perhaps, you've seen them? An involving story of friends hiking through the fields of bloom, with nothing but brotherly love driving them onwards. Judging by the pictures, they might also be myopic, but that just adds to the drama playing out before us.

EOTECH OFFICIAL BRANDINGZ. Is that a reskin or something?

It's a totally different gun model from ACE mod. Devs of it are quite anal about authenticity.

Seems like a fun game, pretty beautiful too, though much of its fun factor seems to come from some sort of IMERSHUM factor/tense hiking simulator, so ironically pointed out in other games but magically turned into positive attributes when it comes to personal favorites.

More like a tracer from RPK hits the ground less than a meter away from you and ricochets and you are like "oh fuck" and fall into a ditch and then spray 2 magazines into bushes it came from only to not kill anyone in the end.

DayZ is built over this "anti-game"ishness of the base game after all.

Oh, which item? Give me a spoiler. I'm still not sure if I want to do the TotL areas, IIRC it was rather annoying.
