Origins was the closest in spirit to the original quadrilogy
dudebro trucker guy smashing monsters with a TV.

SM is a re-imagining of a vastly superior game. It doesn't add anything to it, but takes a lot away. Although I'll give it points for the dry humping bald manlets that chase you around. That's comedy gold, that.

Origins, for all of its faults, stands on its own.

I hardly ever play Visual Novels, but Death Mark caught my eye due to its art and it was well worth my time.

Basically a partial conversion, with new monster sprites (taken from Blood and Doom 64) and some changed monster behaviors. The stand-in for chaingunner is the only annoying one, in that it is smaller and more mobile than the original and prone to blend in with the environment (while being just as deadly and precise as the original). Big Ol' Billy's maps take the cake, they're pretty much feel like custom Blood maps. I do love how, in every single one of his maps, you can see the locales from the previous and upcoming ones in the backdrop. They do suffer from some less than intuitive switch-hunting/key-hunting tho.

Also, here's some timeless wisdom from Sanitarium:

Entering Junktown Junkyard.

:hmmm:
I've heard about Depot A and how it serves as a filter to sort out game journalists. I was not prepared. Those dogs, man... There are so many of them, and stealth doesn't work. I'm stuck in a pool of acid the entire time. I had to go back to Junkyard, stock up on everything, and come up with a better strategy.

Who needs initiative when you can manually enter combat before stepping through the door?

Weird Thief FM :M

(I recognize a lot of textures from Thief 1 and 2, almost every screenshot here has at least one)

Yeah, quite a bit of those textures were taken from Thiefs and Blood. 'Tis a good fit tho, given their inspiration for this mappack.
And speaking of Thief and this particular French film, I always thought that Dr. Kubiac's FMs were influenced by it.
