It's true. I love Pool of Radiance, and the Gold-Box games in general.

I did notice something odd about your screenshots, though. It looks like the border on the right side seems to be missing. It shouldn't be, as you can see here:

Not sure if it's an issue with your version of DOSBox, the way the screenshot was taken or something else. Just wanted to point it out.

I guess it's because I made a half-assed attempt of capturing it before the "PRESS RETURN TO CONTINUE." box appeared.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Clive Barker's Jericho

The game aged horribly. It wasn't something special at the release date, but now seeing all those bland level design with poor implementation of Unreal engine makes it so forgettable. The shitty ending is a cherry on the top of this cake. I should have replayed Undying instead.

The worst part of Jericho were the fucking QTEs. Fail exorcism QTE, nazi bitch queen bites your hand, GAME OVER MAN.

Otoh the gory creativity was impressive. The crazy, mutilated crusaders with weapons for arms remain one of the most memorable and disturbing part of the game for me.

Started playing some classic Might & Magic II (the first one I ever played back during its release):

Sadly, I'm finding that my first level party can easily be defeated in the first round by even the most pathetic enemies:

MM2 is very brutal for lvl 1 parties. Hell, even parties imported from MM1 have problems with Jugglers.

Yeah, the Roman Baths flooded with piss, shit and blood reminded me of General Discussion.

Yeah, Jericho is a bloody clusterfuck. It's as if they were developing it as a co-op game but then switched to singleplayer without giving you the sort of control over your squad you'd get a proper tactical shooter. It'd still be a clusterfuck mind you, in that what passes for the 'level design' here just doesn't work with the number of enemies you're facing or with you having a whole squad on your side.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - the only somewhat good SH title made by western devs, and also the only one that is a storyfag walking simulator.

Origins was the closest in spirit to the original quadrilogy
dudebro trucker guy smashing monsters with a TV.

Shattered Memories was made by the "oh yeah, I LOOOOOOVED Silent Hill 2, just like, the psychological horror, and how it fucks with your mind and....huh? The other ones? No I didn't like them, they were kinda boring" crowd. It was an attempt at retelling SH1 through the prism of popular perceptions of Silent Hill 2.

SM is a re-imagining of a vastly superior game. It doesn't add anything to it, but takes a lot away. Although I'll give it points for the dry humping bald manlets that chase you around. That's comedy gold, that.

Origins, for all of its faults, stands on its own.
