The game is much more readable when you play it, this guy is a smoke demon thing, and you can barely make him out on the screenshot. The whole game is that, looks much better when you play it and there is motion on the screen.
They took Agony, made the maps less confusing and instead of Amnesia style "gameplay" where you hide from enemies and do simple puzzles, they infused it with Dark Messiah and you can kick enemies into spikes, down into pits of lava, behead them and all that fun stuff you did in Dark Messiah. Only now with more edge. You regain health by eating fetuses from pregnant women, just like rich people in America. The only thing that is missing is the gimmicky Havoc physics that Arkane got creative with.
I'd say it's worth checking out if you are an edgy boi, or if you like Dark Messiah-like FPS combat, or just like the art and setting. Ever since I played the original Doom I have been wanting to play something like this, so when it it buyable I will get it on day one. I'm so tired of shooters taking place in a generic city, ruined generic city or a forest/tropical environment. Now that I have played this and Alien Isolation I have finally managed to sate that craving for more exotic settings somewhat. I would recommend Alien Isolation too, the audio design alone in that game alone is great, even if the mechanics are kind of shit honestly. So now I only have to wait for Scorn to have my list crossed off entirely.
