Couple thoughts after having played this in recent times
-Every SpiderWeb game takes many many hours to finish and spans the course of what... 4-6 games for each series? Similar to Yakuza in that as much as you're compelled to move onto a sequel if you manage to finish it, you're probably burned out by then.
-This dude's ReadMe and help section was actually useful-- when I played this as a youngin I used a traditional party but your starting spell-points are actually based on how many points into priest/mage spells you've alotted at CharGen-- armor isn't particularly useful so it makes sense to dump points into at least 3/3 mage priest at character creation and have everyone wear robes to max spell points, so you don't have to waste points into buffing SP later. I only discovered this from reading his actually useful readme. Manuals should be expected to have useful info but I guess it just took me by surprise
-Just buy every positive trait; early-game it's not like you have the cash to afford training your characters to max anyways. The XP penalty thus doens't matter and most positive traits are super useful (especially the regen perk)
-I have no idea how the breakdown of hit chance/damage works, how efficient spending points in dex vs a weapon school is, for instance. Spells and buffs stack, so it seems to me that dumping points into Assassinate/Luck and having enough spell points to buff your hit chance and damage with Mass Bless and Mass Haste is probably the best route to go but fuck if I know I sure miss a lot when I'm swinging impotently at golems
-Most deaths have come from summoning doom spirals where a monster summons a summon who can summon who can summon. I don't mind it.
-Bretty good writing and the whole game is basically Jeff as your DM. There's something special about the UI and presentation. When you get a pop-up when speaking to a character it feels special, remniscient of talking heads from FO1/FO2. An Iron Broadsword may be no big deal if it drops from a random encounter, but it feels cool to find that same Iron Broadsowrd when you finish an encounter spawned by one of those 'white dots' and you're given some flavor text about pulling a 'particularly nice-looking sword' from the enemy camp, and so on.
-I made myself custom sprites for my characters because I'm a faggot
