5032 AD now, Church and League are at war with pretty much everyone (including each oher) and have conquered Cadavus and Criticorum respectively. I have conquered Bannockburn from the League and Nowhere from the Imperial Guard (though the Symbiot hives and rebel armies are proving a bit troublesome to track down and destroy). Also, I just took the palace on Absolution, a world which was actually reasonably intact despite the early Symbiot madness. It has plenty of ruins, several little tropical islands that to my eye look mighty pleasant, and the planet itself will of course be a nice additional staging point for the upcoming crusade against Chernobog.

Byzantium Secundus is still relatively peaceful (albeit heavily fortified), but I have been using spies to slowly eliminate my enemies. Sadly, my grand scheme to take over the Cathedral was foiled by the Patriarch's fighter planes. Turns out that giant stacks of spies don't fare too well against air units, and cyber-fighters do not count as stealth units so there is no way I can see to obtain parity.

Here is the stack just north of the Hawkwood fort. Knights are pretty damn sweet and actually earn you money, as can be seen by their negative maintenance. The concept is really quite clever, and I think ought to be expanded by allowing units such as Starbases to generate greater amounts of income, and so forth.

Oh, also, this particular Knight Retinue has been enhanced with cyberware, which is one out of two ways to train knighs and nobles to become more hardy and efficient. The other is psionics, but it takes longer, and I put off researching the required techs for quite some time.

The sekhrut symbiuth force was pretty much obliterated in an unsuccessful attempt to conquer Australia (Brother Battle and Inquisitors are very tough opponents!) but I am rebuilding and supplementing it with captured units from Nowhere and more lab-produced Xyll Warbeasts.

Delphi has grown rather nicely, but my overambitious expansion has unfortunately resulted in a massive energy shortfall. My stockpiles are all but depleted, and all those shiny factories will operate at zero efficiency until I secure some more.

Luckily, I know just where to get some! NPC factions such as the League seem to grow obscenely rich in terms of resources, so pillaging their cities often yield massive rewards, especially this late in the game.

ITZ coming!

Massive lootan! This will easily allow my industry to operate at full efficiency for at least a decade, perhaps even two if you factor in construction (and conquest) of new energy wells.

The second one doesn't disappoint either, it actually contains even more than the first! Praise the Lord for Kwanza-style oil wars.

Meanwhile, arrogant Li Halan tries to ship their troopas to Absolution and Daishan, no doubt to steal my ruins. Obviously, it is time to once again perform a sneak attack and crush their fleet. Wish they would bring escorts, really. As it is, it is far too easy to keep them down.

On the plus side, you might notice some weird-looking ships in orbit around Shaprut:

House Al Malik has managed to research the Alien Psychology and Vau techs to allow them to recruit Vau mercenary ships. They now seem to produce them rather than those blasted charioteer transports, and the ships in question are actually not too shabby, so it will be interesting to see how things go when I take them on.

Well, that is, as soon as I manage to get past the most recent save corruption issue. I can't seem to get past 5033 AD without getting corrupted saves, so I suspect I might have to backtrack a few years and play on like before, praying that whatever it is that sometimes opts to screw up the game decides to be merciful.

Dude, that looks awesomely complex and fun. What game is this?

It is Emperor of the Fading Suns with a recent version of the Emperor Wars mod installed. It adds a lot of content from the Fading Suns role-playing setting, which I really enjoy. If you like, you can grab the full game with the mod already applied here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/gz9mrujkbv488tc/EFS - Emperor Wars Mod.zip

Oh, and as for the game, I managed to avoid the save corruption business by loading a save two years earlier and playing a bit different. I have saved multiple times since then without problem, and am now at 5050 AD. I think this might be my longest game so far.

Al Malik are spamming Brother Battle, Inceptors and Marauders (!), and Li Halan have almost twice the units I have (but keep sending charioteer transports to their doom - really wish they would bring some escorts, Decados at least have started to do that). Unfortunately, the Symbiots turned out to be pushovers, Chernobog isn't really that tough and they do not build additional ships (though they do rebuild Hives which spam ground units if you leave them be).

Daishan turned out to be a real treasure trove though, several precious energy sites and plenty of ruins. However, what I find myself in need of the most is metal, Hawkwood is quite poor when it comes to metal resources and I do need an awful lot to produce new units, especially ships. It got me thinking that it might actually be a good idea to stay on good terms with the League and abstain from pillaging all their agoras, since they can provide an awful lot of metal through them later on.

Keeps prompting me to run setup when I try launching the game (Win7, 64bit). Ran the registry file that came with the download, but that didn't work and there's no instructions for getting it to work that I can find. I'm dicking around with the registry file that came with the game now, but I figured I'd ask while doing so.

Edit: Tried changing the directory the registry file points to to the one I unzipped the directory to, but no dice there.

SGM is Sigerious Mod?
I remember older version which was exact opposite to Misery 2.0 - lot of stashes with goodies that don't even need NPC's pointing on the map/PDA - so no worries about moniez for nothing.

I promised myself to not install any STALKER again but... uhm... snap.

Who doesn't have STALKER installed at all times?

I gave RIFT a try, as dwarven cleric master race.

As you can see, it's painfully generic, showering you with names and terms seemingly pulled from a generator right out of the bat. I'm gonna play some more to see if the quests go beyond "Kill X of Y" or "Activate X in Y", but I don't have much hope.

I've got the STALKER Complete Mod for Shadows of Chernobyl for the GamersGate version. Are there any other useful mods that I can use with that that mod and that version of STALKER? Kinda liking that game, too bad I can't just take a solid week off work (lots of releases ...) to just bunker down and play it :D

Don't play Complete. Seriously, don't.
Get ZRP (Zone Reclamation Project) if you want a vanilla experience and you're good to go, you don't need anything else. You can get Absolute Nature & Absolute Structures or Photorealistic Zone 1 then Stalker Weather Overhaul and Shaders Max for eye candy

EDIT: might as well post why Complete is not a good idea if you've never played STALKER:

- All weapons have their accuracy increased by 10-20.
- Damage done to everybody is decreased by various percentages.
- Weight limit is increased by 10kg, the maximum being 70kg. In vanilla, the Exo-suit enabled up to 80kg!
- Limits NPC's eye sight distance so they can't spot you from beyond ~100 meters. Said to remove enemies skill to spot you from "unrealistic distances," but really means you always see them first every time.
- Sound radius of the knife and other critical sounds such as death cries, falling dead bodies, night-vision goggles, grass, and footsteps are greatly reduced.
- scientific suits with 90% rad protection now feature an anti-rad injection system.
- Bandages auto-apply at 10% health.

The following features are also available in other mods, but are usually balanced out with other forms of difficulty:

- You can bribe hostile factions to leave you alone.
- A repair kit that lets you service your armor and weapons without the need for a trader can be bought from traders.
- The bar trader and Screw now sell weapons and armor repair services.
- Elite Nightvision, essentially the black & white night vision based on the psy_antenna postprocess effect, replaces the original UV-based blue NV. Perfect vision in the dark is now possible, even without a real light source.

This.
I've played SoC few times (vanillia, Complete, Lost Alpha, few others and now - ZRP) and Complete is mistake.
It change STALKER (which is different compared to ordinary - not only modern - FPS) into acceptable pulp for modern gamers and people claiming that "modern shootah are realistic".

Thing is new players tend to get tricked into thinking Complete is vanilla 2.0, while it's definitely not. If anything it makes the game way too easy. Speaking of STALKER, moar STALKER. I need to take a break after shooting the 7 or 8 Bloodsuckers who jumped at me out of nowhere.
