BIOHAZARD month continues on the Codex with Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

I'm at a loss as to why this entry is so unpopular (40% on metacritic or thereabouts). No, it's clearly not a survival horror, but makes no attempt to disguise that fact. No, it's not a good game, but it's not a horrible one either. If you can actually get it working on PC (thanks GFWL) it's passable popamole idling. I imagine it would actually be quite fun to blast through in co-op, though the different abilities used by the team don't really seem all that consequential, so I doubt there'd be as much interesting teamwork and co-ordination as in Mass Effect 3, Space Marine's horde mode or L4D at higher difficulties. Obviously, I picked it up for about 5 dollars in a sale a while back so I don't know if it was released as a full-price title.

I only played the vanilla campaign (Umbrella's WOLFPACK spec ops) and the free US ECHO SIX chapter. The rest of the US campaign costs around 15 bongs altogether and it's not worth it.

One thing that deserves serious criticism is the portrayal of Lupo's tits. Whilst they're obviously meant to be of the glorious porn-star-balloon-crossed-with-videogame-fantasy-magic variety, the upper contours are quite clearly painted on as a texture rather than a distinct addition to the base model. Extremely unprofessional on the part of Slant Six's developers, especially since later RE titles have improved the physics and model quality of boobs but also failed to match the size of this particular character (see Ada Wong's rather subdued melons in RE6, for example). I will report on Revelations breasts at some point in the future.

Just finished it. What a great game. Can't wait to start with #2 though, which is the real reason I began this series playthrough.

I haven't got to this one yet although I've played through later games and JK/MotS only last year.

How does it play? Is it more of a story/adventure driven like later games or more like a shooter? Are levels mazes like Doom or trying to be actual locations?

It's a DooM-ish game, straight up. Some great level design, more "actual" than DooM in the sense that if you view your map or could somehow noclip to view levels, they would definetely look like locations. Like a ship is mapped like a ship and so on. But there's still maze-like qualities, since you need keycards/switch-detection and so on to progress.

The level design is great, it has SW vibes around every corner. I think they are more of a locations than levels like Doom. In each mission you need to do specific tasks to finish it successfully. So it's not kill em all and push button/move to teleport fps. Overall, Dark Forces was a worthy opponent of the doom clone dominated genre. Jedi Knight is more superior in level design in every way, but it belongs to the genuine 3d shooters era.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
If you're enjoying Weird Worlds, consider getting the Even Weirder Worlds mod. It adds enough new content to make the game less predictable, although it doesn't do anything to fix the Tan Ru.

I'm already working on Uncharted waters 3, Lunatic dawn Passage of the book and several Wizardry titles but sure, once they're done, why not:M

Considering the lack of cyberpunk RPGs, the demand for them and the crappy partial translation, I can say for sure that this thing would worth it.
Going to keep my fingers crossed and keep bitching (when I reach disk 7) until you put me on ignore or do it.

What is that & what system is this on?
Genei Toshi: Illusion City, released on MSX/Mega CD/some other Japanese PCs.
Mega CD version has some issues, so I'm having a hard time even recommending to try that one (no combat music? wtf).

It also has one hell of a soundtrack.

When im done with these 3 Wizardry's on PC and Empire Staff of Ressurection on Game boy i'll check it out.
MSX version has partial translation, and as far as I can say (judging by the rom contents), at least some text is stored without any compression/encryption. Just a heads up.

Well, that was easy +M
Sounds like good news to me. Now I'm riding the hype train, man. I hope it will be done and won't end up being abandoned like the previous translation project. :bounce:
Gotta see how PC-98 version works on my tablet, since MSX and MCD versions worked pretty nicely. Though my experience with PC-98 emulators for Android is rather bad, since The Screamer was close to unplayable there.
