Ah nothing like a good multiplayer match of Battlefront 2. Recently started playing the game again. Suprised how this game still feels so good compared to modern multiplayer shooters (*cough* Black Ops 2 *cough*)

I have no idea why I love this game, but I do. Used to reinstall and play a solid 10-20 hours at least once a year, usually more. Haven't played in a couple of years and these shots alone give me a surprisingly strong wave of nostalgia  looks like I'll be taking a trip back to my parents' for essential uni material in the next few days.

Is the online still sort of active? I remember playing it a bit but my connection was always too terrible. Or their infrastructure was too terrible. Probably the latter. At any rate, it seemed dead even in ~2008.

Not as prestigious as some other flight sims, but Cliffs of Dover does have its moments.

Intercepting some bombers.

Let's enjoy the countryside while we make our approach.

A poorly executed interception. I'll end up under them instead of above.

Check our surroundings before moving in for the attack.

Check our six.

You are the chosen one!

Holy shit. Prosper must have designed that thing's wings.

wmplayer2012-11-0222-54-24-28.jpg

Wait wait WAIT NO NO

wmplayer2012-11-0222-54-37-17.jpg

Breaking off. Can't see shit. Engine busted. Wings riddled with bullets.

Managed to land the thing without dying.

Depends on the servers, dedicated servers can still get pretty crowded sometimes...

It really is a shame that modern RPG developers think the extent of the player's interaction with the game world should be killing, persuading, and fucking things. I've also been playing Blade of Destiny and some of the overland travel encounters remind me how much better things were when games tried to more closely match the narrative and creativity of pen-and-paper games:

Gain some altitude before you attack: at least 1000m, but for the most part the more altitude you have, the better. Travel parallel to the bomber formation, so you can continue to track it as you close the distance. Once you are in line with the bomber formation, roll in on it and start your attack. You should be in a full powered dive, going 600-700km/h. At those speeds, you will not have much time before you have to break off to avoid a collision. If you're in a Spitfire or Hurricane, and thus relatively lightly armed, you're going to need to open fire early, on a vulnerable location such as an engine or cockpit, and keep your fire on that target for 2-3 seconds. In a 109, you have heavier armament, the twin 20mm cannons, but only 60 rounds per gun, which means you have to make those rounds count. As such, open fire only when you're very close and sure to get a hit. With so few rounds per gun, you can expect to get at most 2 kills before having to rearm. Regardless of which aircraft you fly, break off once you're under 100m from the target and begin climbing. The idea is to come in so steeply and so fast that the gunners on the bomber can't hit you, and then to use all that speed you gained from the dive to zoom away and regain altitude. Don't worry about whether or not you kill the aircraft in one pass or not: make your attack, break off and climb, reacquire the target, and then decide whether or not you need to attack it again. DO NOT try to match speed with the bomber and settle in on it's six.

I was about going to post some Crysis 3 Alpha screenshots until I quickly made a check only to learn that those cunts actually applied a NDA to the Closed Alpha.

Rest assured, the game looks and sounds absolutely phenomenal, but plays like a grandmommy walking on Venus-like gravity.

How are they going to track that anyway. If someone posts random pics on the net, how will they know why did it?

A digital watermark is a kind of marker covertly embedded in a noise-tolerant signal such as audio or image data. It is typically used to identify ownership of the copyright of such signal. "Watermarking" is the process of computer-aided information hiding in a carrier signal; the hidden information should,[1] but does not need to contain a relation to the carrier signal. Digital watermarks may be used to verify the authenticity or integrity of the carrier signal or to show the identity of its owners. It is prominently used for tracing copyright infringements and for banknote authentication. Like traditional watermarks, digital watermarks are only perceptible under certain conditions, i.e. after using some algorithm, and imperceptible anytime else.[2] If a digital watermark distorts the carrier signal in a way that it becomes perceivable, it is of no use.[2] Traditional Watermarks may be applied to visible media (like images or video), whereas in digital watermarking, the signal may be audio, pictures, video, texts or 3D models. A signal may carry several different watermarks at the same time. Unlike metadata that is added to the carrier signal, a digital watermark does not change the size of the carrier signal.

Is Crysis 3 really a game we need early info about anyway? I know exactly what that game is and exactly what it looks like despite never clicking one news story about it.
