Maybe I'm getting too old but these newshit shooters have so much sensory overload I have no idea what's going on 90% of the time.

I feel that a bit too, especially when I first started playing BF3 and NS2 I was very put off by how visually noisy they are, it just takes time to get your eye in to that specific game's visual cues. That's not to say I don't prefer a cleaner visual style with less clutter.

Looks just like UE3, why do they even bother making new engines if they're going to console it.

I wouldn't say I have a sensory overload problem but I definitely think they're pointlessly bloated. Good art design and lighting can make anything look good, why these companies bother spending millions to pump more polygons out is beyond me.

That said ask any developer or analyst right now and they will tell you console sales are slow because this is a tech-driven industry and people want the excitement or new consoles that push more polygons. Whether they are proven right in a few years is anyone's guess, but they all firmly believe it.

I agree, there's way too much shit going on in modern shooters. Looking at BF3 specifically, it's just fucking annoying to play because the lens flare kills you and then for some reason some asshole thought it would be a good idea to have your 'camera' get dirty, so that you struggle to see even more while playing because dirt clings to the game screen.

Bought Counter-Strike: Global Offensive yesterday... Can't believe how such an old formula can still work so well when it has to compete against Black Ops 2 and other popamole. Arms Race is especially addicting...

Yes, but we're talking the actual play area, which is the bottom two thirds of the screen. Nothing much usually happens in the top third of the screen. Those guns take up way too much space in the play area.

That game still leaves a really fucking bad taste in my mouth. I pirated it, and it ran perfectly. The I later bought it, and the legit game has unplayable lag.
