Those are the reports that you see in the game. Good luck finding what VI.A surrenders means - is it one of your units, where did it surrender, to whom? Like I said, full fog of war. That's not poor UI, that's by design
Before bigger battles you can choose what tactic will your forces use. Units' effectiveness is affected by the relation between yours and the enemy tactic.
Kutuzow forces showed up:
But they didn't fare that well, despite routing one of my divisions:
A bigger battle happening. It was a walk in the park, I now have to regroup my forces, wait for the stragglers to join and for the hospitals to heal the wounded (all simulated by a roll of a die, well two dice actually):
Here is what you see, when you try to check where the battle against the Russians took place.
I think the Intelligence Report is
bugged designed to incorporate full fog of war. It should read something like - Passau - 50.000. As you can see, the enemy troops are hidden behind the full fog of war:
Thankfully you can "re-design" the full fog of war feature by disabling and enabling unit counters. Voilà, like Napoleon used to say exiting the privy:
There is also a
bug designed for full fog of war future, where in PBEM games some coalition units can disappear.
I think, I'll do some sort of a AAR. After all, not every day you can play a game, where the creators thank both God, and their girlfriends in the credits.
