Embarrassing fact of the day: I replayed Duke Nukem Forever recently to try out the DLC "The Doctor That Cloned Me", as it used the original plot outline from the DNF game we saw back in 2001. The good news is that it's actually funny in places, the "training camp" section made me laugh a couple of times. Also they tweaked the game so that you can now carry four weapons instead of two. The bad news is that it's still Duke Nukem Forever, and it still sucks donkey balls.

That's a bummer to hear. For some stupid reason I was pushing myself through the base DNF campaign again and then was going to try the DLC since I heard it was better. Apparently better still doesn't qualify for good, though.

On the bright side it sounds like it has more Duke nostalgia in it than regular DNF. I know supposedly right at the beginning you get a green alien arm trying to grab you through prison bars. That'll probably be enough to pull me through the whole adventure. Probably.

I bought that DLC when it was like $2 on Amazon. You make me want to actually play it. I found the main game surprisingly tolerable.

I feel kind of dorky for not recognising this one. Help?

PS: Did love Jeasun's Veil of Darkness shot. The werewolf part in that game is still one of the coolest 'quests' ever for me.

It has Duke Nostalgia. At least one of the new enemies is directly lifted from the old Duke Nukem platformers. By far the best section in the game involves a certain Duke Nukem meme.

For those that already have DNF and don't have to make an effort to play the DLC (i.e. those that already have it and the game installed) I would recommend the DLC. It's better than the main campaign, but keep in mind it's still like giving a 1-star game a second star. It's still not gonna be that awesome.

Duke Nostalgia

I tend to replay the first game on DS when I'm in that mood, controls are excellent and the game runs perfectly smooth.

Unfortunately Duke 2 is too demanding for the DS/ emulator.

Have yet to find the courage to complete Forever..

A tedious ending, in which we see that Larian has a fetish. Strongholds, fortresses and many enemies to kill.

But Kirill Pokrovsky music is, as always beautiful to hear

I've never actually finished that game. It was fun, but I became overpowered pretty easily.

And that's without using steel scorpions. Jesus. Steel scorpions were just ridiculously overpowered. Pop on down in an orc camp with 50 people and come back in 10 minutes to loot the place.

I just used skeletons as distraction from time to time, as mages are always low on hp. But you're right on this one, traps are too overpowered. What I really liked were side quests, had much fun with them. Being h'n's game doesn't mean you can't have them, and with Divinity 2 we can see that Larian is a company where people are having some fun making the game. Not some drones sitting 8 hours waiting for the end of the day. I enjoyed it more than Diablo 2 in sp mode, way more. So :salute: to Belgians, and now I'm waiting for Original Sin. (maybe I try Beyond Divinity in a lap time )

Yep, it's Metro 2033, Excidium was right. Sorry, forgot to edit the tags. :/

Since this is a good place to ask and I got quoted on it, is the zoom level on the What Remains shot I posted ok? I have some sort of "smoothing" shader going on, the WR screenshot is zoomed in a lot. The shader smoothes the edges of the sceneries (the character models have seperate shading). Does it blend?

Reminds me of how banal vanilla is. By the way, this is from a vaporware mod:

Our cannons, rifles and swords
Guide us through storms that whip
And in brutal war

Some of us won't return
But that won't bring us down
Our fate is written in the web
Woven by the Norns

It carries us out to sea
With hope of fame and pride
And glorious all will be
That with sword in hand will die

What the devil is that? The text over the black armor guy and the plasma rifle are Fallout, but I don't recognize the UI or the dude on the left. And the background almost looks Infinity Engine-like.
It's Surf Solar's What Remains, a Fallout 2 mod.
Posting a picture of his own mod? This offends my delicate sensibilities. :obviously:

Thanks for the heads up though. Checked it out. Looks kinda cool!
