Did you get the music working?

I'd really love to replay but without the random John Williams tracks popping in it just isn't the same.

:despair:
Yes, music is working fine (I`m using the GOG version). If it's not working for you, try downloading the music wrapper (https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/914-jedi-knight-dark-forces-ii-mots-music-wrapper/) and renaming the executable (DF.exe) into something else (DarkForces.exe or some such). If you're installing from your old CD copy, after downloading the wrapper you can make a MUSIC folder in the main game folder and download the .OGG files from here - https://mega.co.nz/#F!CsZEEYDC!c0VTlDJOv-p2jcf8PT9GBQ.

Another thing I had to do to get 3d acceleration working in the game was use a D3d wrapper, otherwise I would get a black screen (I'm using dgVoodoo, which is awesome - http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2_54.zip)

That's very true. Jedi Knight has awesome level design, with a lot of vertical space and cool secrets to be found. The game effortlessly stands the test of time despite its technical limitations, because the design is so good - after awhile, you simply don't care about the graphics anymore. Not that they're even bad - art direction is great and that's no accident since the game's lead designer was Peter Chan.

FPS level design is very much a lost art.

Isair and Madae, the original SJW's.

I've never managed to beat it. I liked it overall, even Targos and the Ice Castle (never understood the hate for it). but the last chapter is nothing but an endless slog through HP bloated enemies that resist every single spell that you cast at them.

IWD2 is sort of like Lionheart: The first town is probably a high point of IE games with different quests that check stats/skills/races/classes and offer multiple solutions. Then the rest of the game can be safely skipped.

Tamriel Rebuilt, House Indoril except for the part already covered in the Sacred East. Unlike House Telvanni, which is more or less complete, and House Redoran, which is exteriors only, part of House Indoril is nearly complete, part is exteriors only, and part lacks even a finished overworld.

Jedi Knight had two things I love, old school Star Wars and truly mind boggling good FPS level design.

Discworld Noir is criminally underrated. Well, not underrated - I guess not that well-known is a more apt description. It's great.

There are better P&C adventure games out there, but particular blend of Discworld and noir just works so well in Discworld Noir and puts it up in top 10 for me. Overall package outweighs some problems game ultimately has like almost arbitrary "do A at location X, so B happens at location Y" approach to advancing which basically means you have to retread places just to be on the safe side, not to mention clue words are finicky if you don't get the developer logic behind some of the chains you have to follow. It helps game is basically Garrett PI or as close as we'll get to that series of novels in video game format.

Steel Soul Mode in Hollow Knight is so kind and keeps the save file alive after you beat the game normally. I continued my run and went for 100% completion + good ending.

As long as you aren't careless, there is almost no danger of dying outside of boss fights. And besides Radiance (Grimm Troupe isn't required), there was only one other boss I was worried about, and that was the Crystal Guardian.
9gFvs8P.jpg

In my first playthrugh I could never dodge his laser attacks, and he is so fast that it's almost impossible to find a safe spot to heal. But with the shade cloak, which I didn't have here in my first playthrough, you can just dash through him when he fires his laser and attack him from behind. That made this fight almost trivial. Or maybe I got lucky with his patterns.

This one was pretty close though. :o

I've got everything I need. Now to the true final boss.

Meanwhile...

I took a nostalgia trip through Paper Mario 2, the Nitedo game featuring an AI discovering love, a tranny companion, and a nude scene with invisible Peach. :shittydog:

In HD.

The HD pack is a WIP, and some (minor) characters are still low-res, but it's a big improvement nonetheless.

Even the villains agree. Mario is the sexiest man alive.

Nothing to see.

The worst part of this game is that it loves to send you from one side of the level to the other, on an endless hunt for McGuffins, over and over again. It's so tedious.

How to Danger-Mario:
- Only raise badge points on level-ups.
- Sell 5 of the initial 10 HP to have Mario in constant "Danger" status.
- Equip badges that give damage bonuses when Mario is in "Danger", and even higher bonuses when he's in "Peril", at 1 HP.
- Don't die.
Theoretically the entire game should play like :edgy:, but it's only in the last two chapters, when enemies are strong enough to kill Mario in one hit. Koops becomes a useful companion then with his shell shield, and also Vivian who can hide Mario for one turn. The last couple of bosses weren't easy, but the game could have been more challenging overall. I know there is the Pit of 100 Trials as an optional challenge. But that's 70-80 mundane battles before it gets interesting. Nah...

g8me01-276xyu9r.png

Still requires good timing though.
