Sega may be working on Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio sequels

Not gonna lie, that Shinobi footage looks fucking mint.

I'm buzzing at that. :bounce:
Shinobi's certainly the better looking of the two.
Crazy Taxi looks like a forgettable mobile game.
I've always seen Crazy Taxi as a bit of a junk-food series anyway myself tbh. Good for a laugh with mates, but nothing I'd take too seriously.

Shinobi on the other hand is my fave gaming series hands down. Full of bangers right back to '87, and a series I revisit constantly. Well up for this new entry. Lizardcube did us proud with SoR4 & Wonderboy 3, and this looks to be walking the same path.

Skies is one of the only Japanese RPGs I ever played through. Did it twice, I think. On Dreamcast, forever ago. No confidence in a new game. Sega is afraid of good game design.

I reckon this could be good if it happens tbh.

Yakuza Like A Dragon is one of the better JRPGs which I've played in recent years, and there's also a chance that SEGA my hand this IP to Atlus to revamp instead, who I think are the best people making TB JRPGs today.

We'll see, but I'm more hopeful for this than a lot of remakes/remasters.

All they have to do with a JSR remaster is better tune the camera in some maps and also do something about the graffiti skip. No need to change the graphics except basic 3D rendering quality things like a longer draw distance, better anti-aliasing, better texture filtering, high resolution support including different aspect ratios, adjustable FoV and higher frame rate support.

New Shinobi trailer. I'm hoping there's an option to turn off the health bars, pisses me off that these devs think we all can't count how many handfuls of hits it takes to down an enemy, but otherwise I really like what I see...

Yeah those health bars look tacky but it looks like they're taking more of a beat'em up approach to player-to-enemy damage, so kind of make sense. But the art style looks better than SoR4. Better linework, making the flat coloring and shading look not so flat

It is always a possibility they could hand something like that over to Atlus, but if Sega does bring back Skies of Arcadia, it probably stays in Sega. I think a number of the Skies of Arcadia team are still at Sega, if it’s coming back it’s likely just because people in Sega that have been wanting to do a sequel are finally getting to do it.

Funnily, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii with its Black Flag looking ship battles and pirate theme has had me thinking about Skies of Arcadia recently. It was a nice surprise clicking on this thread and seeing that maybe, possibly, something could be happening with it again.

Great point.

The audience is certainly there for it. Ass Creed is dropping off a cliff with wokeness and some fans wanting some more piratey stuff may be there to draw in, Skies fans are spread across several systems, and then SEGA could obviously associate it with Yakuza to draw those fans in. Wouldn't be mammoth by any means, but it'd still likely be a significantly profitable venture if done right.

Oh, c'mon, Defender of the Future for the Dreamcast isn't so bad that we must pretend it doesn't exist.
