I'm on a fog forest now, filled with fog people, there's a closed temple an according a NPC I must enter it through a breach in the second floor, but I can't find a way to get there yet. I killed a rehashed version of the giant drunken boi that spits posion and I improved my health again. Literally I don't have idea where to go next.
I'm not sure how you can miss it. If you killed the drunken guy that was surrounded by 4 monkeys, just grapple onto the tree at the end of the path and it'll take you to the 2nd floor of the building.

You can buy infinite Confetti later on. This shouldn't be news in a Miyazaki game.

How much later on? I beat Genichiro and done the annoying monkey thing. Is it even later?
It's after 2nd corrupted monk IIRC. Don't remember the price.

Second? So just for one run on the first Corrupted Monk I have to farm confetti from the blue samurai for an hour?

Just wow.
You don't need confetti for the first encounter. Just use the sugar instead.

I just spent about ten tries to get two deathblows on genishiro. After finally doing it I just gave up.

So far I've realized this - when you find a boss impossible (Lady Butterfly, Genichiro, some mini-bosses like the spear general), just stay very aggressive. With the Lady and Genichiro the trick is to stay on their ass, keep pummelling them, side step their heavy attacks and whenever they try to get some distance from you close the gap as soon as possible.

The Lady is quite easy with this, Genichiro is a bit tricky in his 3rd phase because his lightning attacks are quite hard to read. But again - just side step.

It was probably also not a good idea to try and beat genishiro just after I raged at the old man miniboss right before him, I probably get him after a good break.

Is the big cave where the Headless Ape spawns the only way to progress to the fog forest or whatever comes next? I'm in Ashina Depths now and the Headless Ape is blocking muh way. It seems I can't go past it since the arena gets locked by fog walls.

I just beat the Guardian Ape so I don't really feel like fighting even stronger version of the same boss right after but it seems like I don't have a choice. Wiki says that this boss is optional but I guess it's not for me because I killed the Guardian Ape "too early" or something? :dead:

Don't worry :)

Today I've spent 3 hours on that motherfucker.

He has 3 phases. The last one is special. First 2 round I managed to beat him flawlessly however the last phase is bullshit without mid-air deflecting.

Tactic is not to panic. State your ground. Engage and then retreat. Learn when to use Mikiri counter.

To be honest you should have at least 4-5 Gourds for this fight. Also firecrackers are very useful.

Some progress. New nemesis.

Spear general down in 3 tries.
Genichiro down in 50+ tries. For some reason I could not deflect shit in his last phase therefore I to learn the hard way.
Note to self: Run in panic doesn't work :)
Killed some sharpshooter boss. 5 tries.
Killed some boss in a temple. 1st try. Weird.
Killed the Gourmand Drunktard.

And I got stuck on O'Rin of the Water :|
3 hits and I'm dead. No comment.

Yes. Wiki no trustey, there definitely doesn't seem to be a way around that area that isn't that path

Unfortunately the purple gourd is purchased in the fog forest which is a bit yikes

As an aside, I am pretty sure that every boss is super duper vulnerable to 1 out of the tools and there's probably a really sick strategy involving all of them but I cbf to use every single tool on every single boss all the time.

Also, for people having trouble finding divine confetti, several merchants start selling them after a certain point in the game for 300 sen, at least the one by the dungeon entrance, and the one in the hat who goes back to the temple. So far, I've only seen 5 minibosses that need them.
The headless you can ignore till later, they dont drop prayer beads, but reusable items that give you buffs, underwater headless are pretty easy and don't require confetti to do bonus damage. Shichimen warriors don't drop prayer beads either, one just drops a consumable, and the other drops endgame crafting material. Finally O'Rin can easily be beaten via posture damage without confetti, she does drop a bead.

Genichiro is fucking me in the asshole. First boss fight so far that's been getting me actually frustrated, but I know it's my fault and not the game's. Was doing well and getting in the groove, getting him down close to the end of his second phase, then 10th death rolled around and my eyes kind of glossed over and I had a really hard time focusing on the fight after. Kept making stupid mistakes and not timing my blocks well. I think I'm just going to have to come back to it tomorrow with some fresh mental vigor. I want to keep playing though, so I'm going to continue exploring as much as I can in the meantime. Man that guy is a fucking bastard.

Yeah you need to do the first 2 phases without consuming too many resources, preferably none.

Jinn i thought you're pretty deep into the game, Genichiro is only third major boss?

I've spent a lot of time meticulously exploring, as exploration is one of my favorite aspects of the game. Also fighting mini-bosses, fishing carps, etc. I take my time with these types of games. Genichiro is supposed to be about the halfway mark of the game, so I don't really see the problem here.

Yeah you need to do the first 2 phases without consuming too many resources, preferably none.

Yeah, I don't use anything in those first two phases, and definitely don't resurrect. Think I'm just tired today after a long day of work.

Finally done exploring every single side passage, now just two grueling boss fights ahead. Maybe I'll take another break, just really frustrated at the moment. I'm at 15 vitality, 5 attack power.
It's either the gorilla or the monk with the black knight halberd looking thing. Just killed the apes and the snake.
