I fucking the game for making me fight this worthless sack of shit Genichiro each time before facing Isshin Sword Saint :argh::argh::argh:

Hey, hey, no fighting in the war room. You are not allowed to criticize Miyazaki's design. Eat his shit with a spoon. Wipe your mouth and say thank you.

Double ape combo. These shitheads took me like 5 tries.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
I said this before but I don't think the bosses are all that tanky if you kill their posture or spam prosthetic. Game gives you many tools to help you deal. Just spam tool to keep their posture from regening.

That said I would rather replay DS2 or 3. Or even better, God Hand, which is the best game ever made.

Horsey down (and rat quest complete). Jizou down, gonna try and finish the memory before tackling the castle.

Pretty cool game...by the way some talk I'd thought I'd be rage quitting every 10 minutes. That could still happen as I think horsey was 1st main boss.

Eh...We'll see what happens.

That's infamous? I thought it was the only online petition in human history that actually worked.
I said "infamous" as some sort of joke, because when it started it was target of some mockery since petitions are usually dismissed as useless.

To be specific I didn't even open the petition itself. What I did was arguing on the Bandai Namco forum for the merits of a PC port. When the (then) Capcom community manager Tony Shopinau replied, he said there were good merits to my arguments and suggested to try a petition to "let NB know there is interest". On the spot I replied something like "Well, seems a bit like blind shot, but if you say it could help..." and then I posted about it in a couple of big forums and emailed the conversation to a bunch of PC-centirc websites and magazines.

The reception was far quicker and larger than I expected, a lot of people started commenting, re-tweeting and shit, a guy who posted in one of these threads opened the ACTUAL petition and less than 12 hours after my emails were out, both Rock Paper Shotgun and Total Biscuit published an article and a video (respectively) about it.
100k signatures later, the rest is PC gaming history, so to say.

Horsey guy is a good fight but he's really easy compared to what comes after. Go have fun with grandma now. She's the one that forced to finally start parrying everything. I could parry her every melee move perfectly by the end. Not like first 50 tries.

Grandma Butternuts...Beat her on 2nd try (first try was just to look at/examine her moves, basically)

TO THE CASTLE!

this is pretty helpful.

i wonder how much sequence breaking is possible in this game ? i got to the hidden forest before killing guardian ape so if not for this thread i would have probably missed dual apes on my first playthrough. i am pretty sure i did gun fort and ashina depths before Genichiro fight. Can you fight Corrupted Monk before him?

edit.

The illusory corrupted monk? I guess so. Then you get the stone. From the ape you get the flower. To get to the ape you need to defeat Genichiro. To get to Mibu village, go to Ashina Depths, poison pool, defeat snake eyes and proceed.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
If you consider that your posture will never break even if it's full as long as you deflect incoming hits, consider the following idea:
You deal more damage the more your Posture bar is filled up

Bosses will end up being less tanky, but you have to play with fire for that to happen

This is what worries me too, that they might feel like they have to increase difficulty with every damn game until they become unbearable.
they've been doing this since Demon's souls.
Dark Souls was maybe a bit less punishing than Demon's Souls due to no tendency and more abundant bonfires, but overall it was way harder. Then Dark Souls 2 was harder than Dark Souls (enemies were in groups, their movesets were harder to read, and after each death your healthbar became shorter and shorter). Bloodborne was harder than previous souls games due to its frantic speed.

Dark Souls 3 was when From went full retard. Bosses and even trashmobs had a ton of health and super long combos with unpredictable delays just to catch you off guard.

So fucking satisfying. I'm done. If it wasn't for the trivial first two phases (well, gen + 1st sword-only phase) you have to repeat every time, I would have liked it even more. One of the best boss encounters of the series. Yet, I feel they might have gone overboard for a main story end boss. He's what I'd expect in optional content or DLC. This fight is very insanely punishing, recovering from posture fill or needing to heal can only happen when you get a huge amount of distance from him but you need to keep doing solid parrying of many attacks before you even get a chance to run away. Without good parries your character gets heavily staggered which leaves you open to the next hit. The rocks can help I know, but I don't like being too close to them, the camera becomes bonker if you get pushed into them or a wall.
Before Isshin, I would have ranked Gehrman as the hardest main story boss. But the fight is nowhere near as frantic, you only have one panic button to react press (step), your character could take more than two of the hardest hits (depending on build) and healing during the fight was way easier as Isshin is EXTREMELY aggressive in hitting you when he detects a healing sequence if you're not at the other end of the world.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sekiro had the lowest level of completion rate of the series.

I feel liberated though. Now that my full curiosity is sated, I will finally stop the self harm that playing this game feels like. New game plus doesn't appear appealing.

The final boss in Sekiro is a good example of From's "le hardcore game for hardcore gamers" philosophy.
- in order to face the final boss you had to fight through a previous boss. Every god damn time.
- annoying arena with tall grass makes it harder to distinguish boss' attacks.
- random moves designed with a sole purpose of catching you off guard.
- health bloat x3.

It is also a huge difficulty spike, no other boss in this game is as hard as him (maybe except demon of hatred which haven't fought).

New game +++ started.... but I gotta ask... How the fuck do you get that item behind the bamboo poles in the forest graveyard? The one near the dead end with the 2 spear monks.
