I'm really looking forward to remakes of the SNES and Genesis games; here's hoping someone talented gets around to doing them.

The kickstarter was 1.8 million. After setting aside money for physical rewards, the budget for the game was 1.2 million. Pre-orders that happened in the last 10 days didn't really help fund the game.

There;s also the fact that out of that 1.8 million, people had to get paid salaries. The bills don't pay themselves.

There's already an alpha for the (incomplete) SNES one on Steam Workshop if you want to try it out.

Thanks; it looks really unfinished though -- here's hoping they don't give up on it and bring it to completion.

Eh... people work on the game for those salaries.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't think that one through before I hit the post reply button.

I doubt the Genesis one would work in this engine with this gameplay style. The SNES one probably would though. Still you would have to really convert them into Shadowrun Returns' style, which a lot of modders are too faithful to the source material to do. Even the small sample on the workshop now of the SNES version is trying way too hard to be a carbon copy when it needs to take liberties due to the different engine.

If I max a skill with Karma, will a +1 from an item improve it beyond that or is the bonus wasted?

Yeah, the bonus applies. I made an orc decker and got my intelligence to 8, the orc maximum, but with equipment it went up to 9.

Yup. Having that launcher saved me from restarting the entire mission after harlequin died. Funny too cause the devs haven't accounted for that possiblity so he keeps popping up in dialogues despite being dead. Also appears in the final talky bit. Altho a certain potato said there's stuff in the files about that so maybe they just forgot to enable something or it had to be cut.

Well in Shadowrun fiction he is immortal.

Yeah, I agree - that's why I said "someone talented"; it takes much more for a great remake than a 1:1 copy of the original.

However, I do enjoy the keyword commands of the SNES game more than Shadowrun Returns' (and every other contemporary game's) dialogue trees so I think the remake should stick to those.

I don't know much about the Shadowrun universe, how many characters were cameos? I know Maria Mercurial and Jake Armitage from the SNES game, were there more? I'm guessing a lot of the people toward the end of the game like the Telestrians, Baron Samedi, the German guy who worked for the dragon (who I imagine will be in the Berlin campaign), Aljernon and maybe some others were. Were some of the shadowrunners you could hire cameos?

Thanks, that's good to know.
Although, I'm more curious about the 'hard' limit, e.g.: would an elf with 11 Karma'ed Quickness get any further benefit from +n equipment or consumables (would like to know about both)?

Yeah pretty much all those dudes at the end. I don't read Shadowrun novels either but I know them all from wiki stuff.

Is Mr. Delilah bugged? Got some bag of gems with an objective to hand them over to him, and Kubota says he should be at the bar, but he ain't.

You're missing the point dude, it has nothing to with the money. I'd just thought a 2-3 M budget would include a save feature, among other things.

Don't tell me what I'm missing, dickless. I'm making my own point: For one, you got the budget wrong. Fucking pay attention if you're going to comment. For another, with the amount of time and money they had + the small amount they charged for this game: There is NOTHING pathetic about enjoying it in it's current state. AND furthermore, complaining that you didn't get the worlds most expansive RPG out of it seems beyond naive and into foolish territory. Pretty much every single complaint Anthony Davis and VD have listed in the newspost I agree with. Does that make me or anybody else pathetic for enjoying this 10 dollar game as is though? No. It makes those of you acting like Lords over Peasants about this look like:

So I guarantee you, if there's a pathetic contest to be held in this thread, it's not those of us happy with our small purchase...despite a lack of save states, open-world freedom and difficulty.

Whoa, I see the quest compasses should be much more detailed in this game. First hoverdog couldn't find Coyote, now Grunker has a problem with Mr Delilah. What's next, Caius Cosades? :troll:

Is the story in this game worth not getting spoiled? Because I'd like to read the gameplay discussion thread.
