if you put points in willpower/magic as a custom class character are you going to get those spells after the tutorial battle or is there something I'm missing about how to equip them?
You'll probably have to buy them at the magic shop.

After many a noobish mistake I am now at the stage for the Matrix. With Willpower + Intelligence build I actually died quite a few times on Very Hard, mainly because I had 1 Body for quite a while and the protagonist kept getting killed. I think it's a pretty fun and pretty tight game. The pity is that it's superlinear, even a little bit of C&C or b ranching could have done wonders, but it's more than worth the $15 and it's got character.

Still unsure how to upgrade my magic and I'm sure I'm missing other things, but having fun.

I made my Dwarf a custom character with Chi spells and I got one of them for free from Jake's stash.

You get first spells from troll in the bar, and then you buy everything from Algernon till end of the game. Just wait for it

:?
Oh these systems which have starting stats of a crippled gretchin instead of normal human. Not like your Fallout with all fives in stats indeed

Grab the Codex by the pussy
So when a team of two people inevitably create a mod within the first month that's better than the OC, what will that say about Harebrained?

Unless two people (or a community) somehow releases full games rather than user generated content, HBS is in the same issues as almost every other developer: community cleans up their game with mods and content that's better than the OC.

Finished it. I thought it was quite decent up until midgame where both story, writing style and general world presentation made a huge leap in a different direction. Matrix segments were alright, intense, even, in my case anyway, since my PC seemed to be the best combat unit and I used him for decking.

Combat was pretty dull although I quite liked last level's challenge. Protagonist died 2 times in total, both of which were caused by some odd glitch that automatically skipped my turns, never happened again after restarting the game. All in all, I agree with general consensus: rpg-lite with dissapointing lack of consequences, variety and player freedom. Reminded me heavily of Expeditions: Conquistador because of that. (Although E:C's failed in different aspects.)

Anyone knows a way to move the dialogue window to the center/bottom center of the screen? Reading in the corner is getting annoying pretty quick.

Regarding Dodger in the Telestrian office - yes, he sucks. Pretty bad, even, for one specific reason. He doesn't have the Killer program, aka 100 damage single target attack with increased chance to hit.

DONT BE TALKING SHIT ABOUT THE GHOST, THOUGH, HE'S BADASS :x

He does have an aoe that does good damage, though. Also with the two permanent summons and the exploder dude for when there's a group clustered, that matrix level was easy enough.

Are there any restrictions on which spells you can equip? Also if you're a Mage, is it reasonable to pick up early levels in Spirit Control or Chi Casting for the spell slots?

You need high enough level in skill to equip high level upgrades for spells (like Fireball II).
Spell slots, they are probably capped at 5, like most other slots
It's not like there are a ton of spells to choose from. Every spell costs AP, sometimes a lot, up to 3, so having a large spellbook in not important. Just grab one expensive and one cheap AoE spell, heal, aim, maybe mana bolt, and you should be fine.

Yeah, dudes. It's so pathetic that I'm having fun playing this fun game which cost me a whopping ten bucks. And yeah, what a waste of SO MUCH money to have a fun time...regardless of scope. What's pathetic are the neckbeards acting like a ten dollar dent in their lives is a fucking travesty. What's pathetic is expecting much more than we got from a small budget, short development cycle.

Could it be better? Of course. Is it still worth the money? Christ, you pathetically impoverished retards, YES.

You're missing the point dude, it has nothing to with the money. I'd just thought a 2-3 M budget would include a save feature, among other things.

You would think that, but this game had a 1.2M budget.

Wargamer.com has a comprehensive preview and lots of screenshot for Buzz Aldrin Space Program Manager. Looking really good actually, if they manage to capture the feel of the original.

Just rescued Marie-Louise, where I assume the story shifts gears. Enjoyed it so far but will be a little disappointed if the macabre organ switch stuff becomes a messiah production one.

Combat isn't too tough anymore on VH but still fun enough. I Think it's a competent tb setup and certainly harder than E:C.

I am pretty certain that it was at least 2 million, with preorders. Of course they are now down-playing the figure, but that's actually a lot of money.
The kickstarter was 1.8 million. After setting aside money for physical rewards, the budget for the game was 1.2 million. Pre-orders that happened in the last 10 days didn't really help fund the game.

So the number is roughly between 1.2 mln and 1.8mln, who gives a shit. Stop sperging, whatever it is, it's a tight budget regardless.

Pre orders have been possible since Jan 4 2013, not only in the last 10 days.

http://harebrained-schemes.com/post/shadowrun-returns-is-now-available-for-pre-order/

It's hard to take a then-unknown amount of preorders into consideration when creating a budget, no? Money from them probably helped a lot when they ran out of money towards the release date, nothing more.
