How the hell do you people have multiple etiquettes?

charisma

Edit: There was some guy that said that etiquettes don't count. He's bullshitting. They count, in fact the game is quite balanced to offer rewards for each etiquette. You cannot use them all the time but they are there.

Wish I knew melee sucked beforehand, look at all those points.

Pommel attack doesn't work, cleave is useless...I used regular attack 90% of the time, the bonus damage of the power attack isn't worth the loss of accuracy. I'm not even sure disarm is worth using for 2 ap either.

There was one towards the beginning of the game. But I cannot tell you the exact location. But be sure that they are there: at least 2-3 occurrences for each etiquette.

I just realized that the universal brotherhood is a thinly veiled nickname for the RPGcodex:
"The universal brotherhood is all about belonging to a hive"

and humans being transformed into shemales ants? Very

Chi strikes and spells seemed decent, Harlequin wasn't bad when buffed

Yeah and they don't do anything interesting. Example - there is a very elaborate etiquette check when you find second Ripper's victim to get you into crime scene, but the morgue worker will let you in anyway
You can use Security etiquette to get into the first scene, but you can just give cop coffee and donuts
You can be very smart with academic one during meeting in the library, but only thing you get is a respectful look from Algernon
And I can continue this. Only real thing it does - it gives you extra cash sometimes.

I just figured out you can never have more than 3 weapon slots, so you can't have two drones following around you unless you drop weapon or deck. ehh :(

I don't know, adept powers didn't seem to make it much better. Specially since it's so easy to hit multiple targets with guns. Not to mention the better progression and variety guns have.

At least something. But you are right, etiquettes are more like a flavor thing.

As for Harlequin, he is more useful as a support mage.

The save thing is slightly annoying but not that bad. The lack of loot doesn't bother me at all, I have never played RPGs for loot and actually dislike having a ton of loot to look through and evaluate.

What is really annoying me is the linearity. There's a computer requiring two decking points in the first area that I can't go back and use now because you can't go backwards, ever, for any reason. All you can do is go to the next story environment. It's frankly ridiculous, annoys me a great deal. I guess I will get used to it, or even better things open up, but it's a pretty massive flaw.

Other than that it's awesome. Great combat, great writing, great world, good music, good story.

You dont really need to get used to it, because the game is going to end real soon.

Also you will deck like 4-5 times total so no reason playing as a decker.

IMO the only people who might have a right to be pissed off are those who spent large sums of money in the Kickstarter campaign, in the expectation of getting a "full scale" RPG. To those people I would suggest selling their physical editions when they arrive - I'm sure they'll be worth quite a bit on eBay.

I've spent more money on far worse. I guess when you don't flip burgers for a living, you're able to spend money freely, and not feel burned if you spend it on crap. Not to say I think the game is crap. From my limited gameplay, I'm enjoying the game. Looking forward to the incoming user generated content - both pure genius and shit.

To my everlasting shame I have to admit I am having my ass kicked while decking. I took the game's advice and hired Dodger, who either sucks terribly or I don't get the Matrix rules. I usually manage to fight my way to the final node and die like a sucker or with a bit of luck kill all the enemies, run out of time and get raped by black ice.

The rest of the team in the real world meanwhile turns the incoming kill teams into dog chow, so this is doubly irritating.

Any tips on how to suck less at l33t h4xx0ring?

If the ambush at the end is what's killing you, I pulled out when that happened. You accomplish the goal and pulling the plug just stuns you, which doesn't matter much if you're winning the outside battle. If you're having issues before then best advice is heal whenever you can and kill the mages first.

I used my PC though since I was a decker, so I'm not sure how much the guy you hire sucks.

They never said they were attempting to revive classic computer role playing gameplay unlike inXile, Obsidian, Brenda Romero, etc. The pitch appealed to nostalgia of the setting, and the SNES and Genesis games (particularly the SNES version).

I like the game but it fails to live up to those games too. Both, especially the Genesis one, were open worlds to at least some extent with mission choices and other RPG world elements.

This game is has a base for upgrades and the linear missions you go out on.

So I have a question. Do you have to pick "Shaman" as a class to be able to summon environment spirits? Or can anyone do it of they have the appropriate skill, say for example the make your own class option?
Just pump your stat to meet the requirement of the fetish

He's also in love with an AI that subsequently got captured by Renraku, cot copied, took control of their arcology and became Deus.

He's right up there with Harlequinn and Lofwyr on the scale of "you really didn't need to do more than namedrop those guys, dumbfucks".

Fuck it. Final fight glitched out on me and I'm too burnt out to give it another try.

Do not shoot the whore in the face multiple times before she is done with pillars.

Dodger is a big-name decker. Basically, he fell in love with the first sentient AI - called Morgan. Renraku captured it and tore it apart in the name of Science, which turned it into Megaera and Deus. Deus took control of the Renraku Arcology in one of the coolest sourcebooks ever and began experimenting on the captured humans. There's a bunch more to it, but basically the Crash 2.0 that nuked the Matrix in 2064 leading up to 4th edition was Deus reassambling himself from code smuggled out through the humans he experimented on.

The german near the end - Brackhaus - is pretty obviously Lofwyr. He's an ancient dragon, the president of the Saeder-Krupp extrateritorrial megacorporation and owns germany.

Har'lea'quinn had 2 major campaigns revolving around him. He's one of the dickish Immortal Elves left over from the Fourth World. One of the adventure arcs basically deals with how Harlequin and another Immortal Elf are carrying on a 3000-year vendetta through human pawns.[/quote]

There's a bunch of others as well. I get that they're nods to people who've played SR for years. But the last 25% of the game turned up the OMG EPIC scale way too much. It would've been a better (and more setting-appropriate) adventure if the no-name runner wasn't dealt with directly by people in power.

I'm a happy owner of both end tier drones, and that's actually awesome. I think maxed decking/droid control/droid combat is a viable build (you sorta need decking to buy these 3000-4000 nyen miniature vertibirds and to get all adam jensen with upgrades for bonus HP). Just get third weapon slot to carry both drones in combat, and shoot your markerlight instead of a weapon. I pretty much raped basilisk mission with droids alone, they rolled around killing stuff, and then oneshotted mage "boss" and killed all basilisks. And they only have 3 action points for now, 4 being maximum at the end of the rrrrine.
All support drones replenish their stock of grenades and medkits every mission, which is helpful
