Why is this in Classic cRPG discussion? This game is far from a classic. iOS ports should really be in Mainstream AAA+ section.
This isn't a mainstream AAA+ game by any means. It's a mainstream tablet game.

I remember a post in one of our thousands of SR threads stating HBS are working on giving this option in the editor right now, including sample stat blocks for a spell, a melee and a ranged weapon, showing of how they would probably look. I think it was in a general shadowrun modules thread, but I'm not in the mood for dumpster diving through several megathreads right now.

there're already editors to (de)serialize those cooked .bytes files. there's even a mod which includes 60+ new weapons and content to be used in your custom campaign. spells and other equipment shouldn't be that big of a problem. right now the biggest drawback is the lack of model integration, and hbs should focus on that instead. you don't need hundreds of weapons to mow down row after row of lonestars...

Why shouldn't the player be rewarded for this?

A game becoming progressively less challenging is more of a punishment than a reward. I would prefer it if doing exceptionally well at the beginning reward opened up new, more difficult paths for the player. Of course, something like that isn't easy to pull off.

I've just completed the game with a troll street samurai after getting 70% of the way with a dwarf shaman.

I thought it was ok, my essential thoughts boil down to:

The game world was interesting but seemingly unreactive: Why didn't the Shaman vendor ever recognise my character as someone who also constantly summoned Spirits? why did my avatar not have anything particularly Shamanic to say about the plot? Generally the "charisma" part of the game was pretty...bleh.

I'd like to add a "fuck Coyote" too for trying to charge me.

Massive inbalance between classes in terms of attribute expenditure.

Lack of interesting spells/dearth of variety. Likewise in equipment.

finished the game on Very Hard, I must say Tigranes hit it on the head: there's no reason to read any of the dialogues the second time around, because no matter what option you pick, it always ends the same anyway. save for a few conversations where your choice actually matters.

one example of C&C is the power grid problem quest. you get it in the second half of the game from Kubota, and it doesn't even register as a quest. but the game remembers it. I liked how on of my possible rewards was the option to ask Telestrian to pull some strings and keep the district where the Seamstress Union was on the map.

so yeah, clearly HBS could have and did add some of that C&C goodness, but wasn't in the position to make the whole game around it. having gone through SRR twice I am now almost certain they simply lacked HR and time to make a full-blown RPG and could've never delivered one in that timeframe. hopefully their plan all along was to use the sales of the first game to expand on it in future titles.

I think that's probably leftover of some cut content.

I only got it on my second playthrough, I *think* it was either before going into the Renraku facility after the scientist or right after. anyway, at some point when you've talked to everyone in the room, a bubble appears above Kubota's head. if you talk to her, she reveals that city authorities want to power down the district and eventually clear the area for a new one or something. you can ask her a bunch of questions (like "Let's just bribe someone and be done with it"), but she will reply something about "the problem being too big", in other words it's unsolvable.

then, after you kill feed capture Jessica to the bugs Telestrian will ask you what you want in return for your services. an option will pop up mentioning Kubota's trouble. Telestrian will ask you why you care about some slums. I answered there was a bar I liked to hang out at. was good enough for him.

After struggling to stay interested, I finally managed to reach the Brotherhood's Inner Sanctum and see the first insectoid mutant thingies, when the game glitched out and I ragequit.
Does the plot thicken get any better after that point or was the glitch a blessing and a sign from the Gods of Incline that I should say fuckit and just wait for mods to fix it super awesome modules no doubt to hit us within the next few months?
I hear combat gets less B-S-B in the latter half of OC, but it's too uninspired at its core, to begin with, so I'm somewhat skeptical in that regard.

Depends. After that, you get some of the best encounter design in Telestrian corp. Then it's more tedious bugs.

that's all there is to the story. you've seen it all now. the missions are more challenging in terms of combat, yes (only true for Very Hard).

Only after the shotgun was nerfed. And by nerfed I mean turned into a useless piece of shit. Till then kneecap with 3AP on your PC + hired samurai was more than enough to breeze through it.

I never used the shotgun with my character, and Coyote couldn't hit a barn door with hers, so I wouldn't know. an assault rifle on full auto is the shiznit

Is there more than 1 run on Telestrian Corp?
Because It was interesting but very easy for me on very hard with my Decker (Pistol-skilled), one streetsam (1000 creds), one mage (healing 1 and some aoe spells, I think 3000 creds) and Coyote Ugly girl.

Attacking the hallway, where you could jack in to take control of the turrets and a rigger eventually comes as backup and flanks you is the is best encounter in the game. The final fight is probably harder though.

It was actually pretty easy for me because I ran directly to the door with all my runners before the turrets could start firing. I used the furniture in the room as cover and shooting everybody who entered the room through the door. Shotgun with doubleshot in overwatch owns everything. That rigger looked through the door and then he was gone forever. Had he some drones? I didn't notice.

There are a couple ways to cheese it (you can use drones and take 100 years and kill everything without being fired on once), but it's still the best one.

Yeah. It's really easy because the AI are all set to suicidal berserker mode and their stats are p. bad. Somebody should tweak that stuff someday.

To be honest in this situation the secuirity had no other choice than storming the room to get me. If they had drones the could have used them as meatshields. But without no choice. But if the door would have been locked...

Thanks. Guess I'll throw this game on the back burner, then.
