Quick tip for fighting the bugs:
Once you down their meat bodies, use your last APs to switch to the Aegis and set overwatch. The extra shots you get would really make a difference. Also make sure you hire the Ghost, since he also has a bug gun.

Pretty sure that's not a bug. The descriptions of revolvers explicitly state they offer less combat options. Instead, they offer higher base damage. Nice to have for characters who don't heavily invest Karma into weapon skills.
I had a pretty shitty Troll Adept build, but I found the final battle so easy, I didn't even think it was the final battle. I just thought it was going to be a progression to the next plot point in the game. Played on Very Hard too.

I literally only died once on normal, I believe. The bugs were no big deal. Game needs to be played on hard I suspect, but it's too soon for me to replay such a story-heavy game.
We have not decided to add additional functionality to the large amount of features already in the editor. That will be determined by the amount of community content being generated, the amount of use that content receives, and the long-term financial success of the game.
The question was "IS BERLIN GOING TO BE LESS LINEAR AND MORE SANDBOX?" True, open and sandbox aren't synonymous, but I think the point was pretty obvious.
If the question was "IS BERLIN GOING TO BE LESS LINEAR AND MORE OPEN?" he would have said yes. He told so himself. True, i undertand what the question meant, but he maybe didn't want to make a fake promish that the game will be sandbox.
Don't know why some people are butthurt and don't see the "backpedaling", HBS never said it was going to be sandbox.
They said it was going to be less linear.
Good thing, most sandbox games are awful.

I decided to listen to the podcast and at 1:47 he says that Berlin involves doing more mercenary work for different Johnsons, nothing about it being less linear.
The guy who said it would be more like the Genesis game was reading what he wanted to hear out of it.
Yes, they did. I think they said they'd try to get it out within a few weeks. You could probably find the examples if you cared to look back through this thread (I don't).
Roguey's algorithms are not optimized for trolling about this game yet.

That's good. All I want is a hub with multiple missions to go on available. I fully accept this game is mission-based strategy, I just want to choose my missions Mega Man style.
Jordan reveals that while Seattle is a tad closer to the SNES game with a somewhat more linear plot, the Berlin campaign is more like the Sega Genesis game in that it is freeform with a more open world and tons of side quests/runs for different Johnsons.
Not trying to kick the hornet's nest here. But a lot of people have been saying it as fact. I don't remember that being confirmed in any official Kickstarter updates. If it was, can you indicate which one?
I think it's important to keep everyone's expectations realistic. While I would love a gameplay experience like the Sega game, I also understand from experience the limitations of the Editor in its current form.
Either way, keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to whatever HBS has in store for the next installment.
Then its likely it will be as shallow and barebone as the original campaign, they will again put the minimum efforts into it. Of course no decent save system will be added in a patch either, thats way too much work . Frankly i was very enthusiastic at the beggining but except the setting and pretty graphics its rather shitty as a rpg and one of the most dumbed down game recently released.
So, I finished the OC during the weekend, spending 13 hours for the campaign. I built a pistol wielding rigger/decker, final state of character:
Since no on-will save system was implemented and I’m not into replaying whole levels again and again I decided to go on normal difficulty (although I’ve bumped AI setting).
My impressions are generally positive.
Cool stuff
- I liked the visuals, tasteful comic art style, lots of tiny details building atmosphere and making you believe in the setting. And portraits! One of the best I’ve ever seen in cRPGs.
- GUI is nice, I did not feel any “tablet interface” syndrome
- Encounters where quite fun, I especially liked…
…encounters when you are forced to fight on two planes – decker in the matrix and rest of your runners protecting him in the real world. That was really cool, some combat C&C. Is my team healthy enough so I can explore the matrix a little bit more and grab additional useful information for the story purpose or to be sold? Or I have to blitzkrieg through it because my team will be slaughtered in a few turns. Moreover I had a feeling that enemies concentrated fire on the decker, if they were able to reach him, so it added extra challenge to “protection” – I’ve tried to eliminate them before they come close enough to make significant damage to my decker (who was my main co no “trauma kit” option available).
- I liked the story. One may say it’s not incredibly original but it the basic idea of dead man’s switch was cool. Lot of standard “must-have” cyberpunk elements where present in the story, some may say that the usage was cliché, but after overload of fantasy games (with occasional post-apocalyptic settings) it was like a breath of fresh air anyway.
- Amount of texts is significant but since dialogs where well-written, it was fun to read them all.
- I didn’t have experience with Shadowrun RPG system, but it was fun! I loved the rigger and his drone, my character became really powerful at the end of the campaign dealing massive damage (4 attacks from the drone and two from PC). I think I’ll replay the OC with the shaman build next time.
- Skills/attribute/etiquette checks in the dialogs
- AI was not so dumb, using grenades and nasty AoE spells when my team was clustered. DoT and critical hits on team members added a lot. I hate games when only player can affect enemies with such effects and is safe from for example critical hits.
Neutral
- While before playing the game I hated the fact that there is no on-demand save system it was not so painful during gameplay. Probably because individual levels where small and I was only once or twice in the early game forced to reload because of main character death after two critical hits in a single round. But I believe it may be painful on higher difficulty levels or with more open-world campaign. I still hope that developer will add normal save/load functionality in the future patch or Berlin DLC.
- Having multiple solutions to the problems is generally a plus. But sometimes I felt that there a bit too many solutions and whichever path I choose leeds to success. But at least you have to explore a bit, pay some attention to dialogs and information you collect.
- I know that hiring team before each run has its roots in the lore (and yes, I admit it has a lot of sense), but… I’d still prefer to build and manage whole team from scratch. I hope that it will be possible for the future DLC or custom campaigns to build/permanently hire team members which gain karma too and player can manually spend it on attributes/skills.
Could be better
- 13 hours spent on whole campaign content including time spent for some reloads, reading dialogs, learning the Shardowrun RPG stystem, studying character skills and browsing shops and reading item properties is really short game :-( I hope that since the engine is fully developed the Berlin DLC will be longer than the vanilla OC.
- OC was quite linear and the environment reactivity was low
