Uh, so not only did he not say it was a sandbox, but no comparison with the Genesis game was made? Are you sure?
Positive. You can skip ahead to 1:47 and hear it for yourself, he just says that rather than a personal story it's more about doing mercenary jobs for multiple people. No name-dropping the Genesis game or even anything about it being less linear.

Just finished the game, without any previous experience with Shadowrun, and I would be a friggin liar if I said it wasn't a ton of fun. Despite it's mistakes and design faults, I didn't remember having that much fun with an RPG since New Vegas, and for a game this small in size and budget, I think it's quite an achievement. The writing was good (for the most part), the story was intriguing and interesting (for the most part), loved the atmosphere, graphics and music, some really good misions and a simple but fun turn based combat system.

But... they almost screwed up in the last act. From the burial scene, the plot goes full retarded, and for the writing of some lines it seems that they even knew it and just wanted to have fun writing retarded shit. For me that's the biggest complaint, more than being so god damn linear. Luckily, the content does not get bad as it does the writing skills of the team, and allowed me to have fun like the rest of the game.

Happy to be a backer of this game, and a good appetizer for the Big Kickstarter RPGs. Now it's time to play with the editor.

PS: Yes, I'm late to the party.

Then its likely it will be as shallow and barebone as the original campaign, they will again put the minimum efforts into it. Of course no decent save system will be added in a patch either, thats way too much work . Frankly i was very enthusiastic at the beggining but except the setting and pretty graphics its rather shitty as a rpg and one of the most dumbed down game recently released.

THIS! Overall I'm not impressed by HBS and will never back one of their games again.

The main problem with the game after that point is that fighting the bugs is a major pain in the ass. Specially since you have to kill them twice and they love poisoning you with -AP debuff and getting lucky crits
you say "problem", I say "challenge". matter of perspective

I would expect them to be throwing around sales numbers left and right, did the game not sell tremendously well?
I have never seen any company throw around sales numbers left and right unless the numbers are in the high millions, and even then only a while after the fact.

Well, they are a mobile developer launching their first "big game", i use the term "big" loosely here, made with a modest budget and released to respectable review scores. I would expect them to capitalize on this with some positive PR... the Berlin news so far isn't doing it for them.

They're a small company, they can't afford PR. They're likely too busy with Berlin and their inevitable failure of their hybrid board game kickstarter.

I wrote about this in the other megathread http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...on-thread-spoilers.85058/page-29#post-2805777

The problem is some overzealous person read too much into something and everyone took him at his word because fuck 2 hour podcasts.

He only heard what he wanted to hear , a campaign with as much freedom as a console game published decades ago, such expectations really, what was he thinking . He's not the only one, in some prestigious places, the games is even dicussed in a classic rpg sub forum, those fools believed the game would include inventory, a deep character creation sytem, meaningfull turn based combats with lot of strategy involved, choice and consequences.

Yeah, what the deal with that board game anyways... no one gives a fuck about it.

There are a couple things that can make the game harder if you don't, like, notice them. I never used Haste, like a dumbass, and rarely used Aim or Armor, til I finally wised up and started prebuffing in the very last mission before opening every door (a pain, and stupidly impossible to do on the final encounter). I can see how someone who didn't take the third bug shotgun and who hadn't figured out overwatching the bugs before taking them down might have had a problem with them. Or if you were terrible and never put any points into body (also me until a few missions into the game).

I think the clearest path through the game is just to go full mage and bring as many mages as you can as mercs, because those spells, jesus. I wonder if you could get a spellbook packed enough with spells that you could cyberware yourself out and still have a crazed nuke every turn.

You can stack multiple ranks of haste on a single character, I believe. I only found this out around Telestrian run, I think. I don't get missing haste, though. I have yet to see a system where having haste on party members is ever a decision as opposed to being a must have at all times.

I played a shaman/mage, stacking up haste and confusion/mindwipe/blindness is easy mode.

The board game idea might work... But with something established. If it was some sort of magnetic stands for your Warhammer 40k junk, for example. People care about Warhammer(I think), but nobody, nobody cares about Golems:Whatever.

I dunno, it was a boardgame only, i would have bought it. The tablet requirement kills it for me. You sell a software and physical DLC, instead of the whole software. And its not like you can recast the moulds of the extrobiantly priced figurines for use by your group due to the micro-codes or whatever which doubles as DRM and input for the software part of the game.

I am:keepmyjewgold:, thank you.

Seriously? This is a huge issue! It cluttered my dedicated Windows drive, turning my computer into a useless stuttering mess. We are talking about gigs of useless temp files I had to manually find and delete. Then I applied the previous patch and it happened again! And they are still "looking into ways to address and/or minimize"??? Put your backs in it, dammit! This is totally unacceptable!

I'm still getting audio stuttering issues all the time and it's incredibly annoying, but other than that I've had no issues. Damn fine game.

I beat the game and used the editor for two weeks on a daily basis and my cache file was 2GB. How big is your HDD?

I have a separate 10 gig partition just for my OS. It usually has a few spare gigs, since I put most my games and programs in my main drive. My cache was more than 2GB though... it probably would have kept going beyond 3GB if it had space.
