I don't know what they have to talk about. If it's not a continuation, why would import matter?

DA:O -> DA II allows import even without continuation. I suspect that's what they mean.
I knew it couldn't import your money or stash, but I looked it up and it does keep track of your decisions. But I dunno how many of those decisions are going to be checked considering the campaign takes place on the other side of the world.

Oh, I highly doubt your savegame will matter how considering how shallow SR was, I'm just saying there's nothing inherently wrong with the concept of importing to a different story.

I was never expecting it to be a continuation or save game import. I never gave a shit about that sort of thing in Bioware games and its not needed here.

Sounds to me like they are doing ok with sales, enough to make this decision.

Has there been a sandboxy mod that has the player revisiting locales/hubs yet?

Well, the game sat at the top of the Steam topsellers list for like a week after launch, and had over 20k people constantly playing it for a few days. I would be shocked if they weren't doing well sales-wise, and they've yet to release the tablet version.

And yet with all the successful sales the majority of funds with go into some retarded Tablet / Tabletop hybrid.

Meh I should of just leeched this game, at this stage I have 0 confidence that Berlin will be anything special. Their original plans for it are really worrying

"So, we've decided to spend more time on Berlin to create an experience closer to the size of Dead Man’s Switch"
Wow..I guess this is good news. I'm really shocked that they were planning to release something shorter than DMS. It's not like it was...lengthy by any means. Good god.

Berlin was announced as an extra campaign to squeeze more money from the backers and attract new ones. Why would anyone expect the add-on to be as big as the 'original'?

Even as a backer, I am happy they decided to delay this. And it seems for all the RIGHT reasons

Why is everyone saying this? Almost everyone had the exact same criticism of the original; too shallow. Too much butter spread on too little bread. They're not meeting that criticism at all. They're not focusing down the game, they're not changing the structure of the game (which would be pretty easy, just switch to a mission-hub based structure), they're doing exactly the same thing they did with the original except now you can choose which order to do missions in. As in, they're adding MORE bread and NO butter. Has everyone forgotten the game they played two weeks ago?

They're still going to sell it to all the non-backers (who probably outnumber the backers by a huge margin judging by Steam stats noted above), and it being big would presumably help a lot with that.

The same people who were expecting a full fledged cRPG, simple minded people failing at any reality check and to understand the goal of the kickstarter, fooling themselves.
Happy with my 15$ investment :bounce:

I just hope they'll have more stuff to do for the Decker. In terms of usefulness, he was on par with a Gambler in the original Fallout.

If all fans are demanding them to make fucking Fallout with the resources they have (LOL) it's no wonder that they aren't doing what they should be doing (that is, focusing the game LESS on open world mechanics and MORE on the shit that works, i.e. missions).

There's an enormous amount of space between Fallout and the on rails game that was DMS. Lots of user content has been more open than DMS. Adding more functionality to the engine (such as the save game and runner mechanics update) is much more important than HBS making a couple of decent runs.

Most stuff is still alpha level, but there are some promising ones. I checked out a half hour of Shadowrun Unlimited and Little Town, both of which seem to be off to a good start. The former is more sandboxy, and attempts some interesting stuff (rent, DocWagon contracts). The latter is more of an open run (break into three corporate headquarters however you like in whatever order you want).

Life on a Limb is an open mod with lots of content and interactivity, but the quality is pretty bad.

I saw a couple of others in the workshop that are trying to be open worlds, but haven't messed around with them yet.

'It is enjoyable for what it is.' But does that say anything about what it is, what it should be, what it could be.
There are throw away games that are enjoyable, that you'll never revisit again, where you don't care if their
creators will ever be heard of again, or the 'franchise'. I think Shadow Run can be more and should be more,
also from the groundwork that has been laid with SRR, it seems possible and more a question of direction.

You'll know your time is well and truly worthless when you find yourself replaying a 12 hour game for the sole purpose of getting a Steam achievement.

That guy who did 37 ME2 playthroughs at least had the excuse of being mentally ill.

There are maniacs who just buys/rents game for their easy gold/platinium trophies on PS3.

What the fuck does grunking have to do with this? Go find the original thread. Almost every poster in that thread has similarly sounding criticism.

People's memory in this place is really fucking short.

I think you mistake passing valid criticism on a game for not being able to enjoy it.
The most criticized points in SR:R OC are linearity and too easy combat (and probably short length). Nobody sane could argue with those points, they are true.
Still, I had a great time playing the game.

And I don't see why I should not have a great time with a DLC which is slightly less linear (and hopefully also with more challenging combat).

Also, I fail to see the difference between what they described for the Berlin campaign and what you describe as mission-hub based structure.
You have some place and can find quests in there. Sounds pretty much like what they described.
Sure, it would be good if there were more than just one such mission hubs, but in the context of SR it makes sense to have this focused on very few locations.

Agreeing with thesheeep. Yes, I had quite some criticism as well, but it's still the first game in a long while where I read every piece of text there was and I can't complain about what I got for my gold.
