2) Poor choice of engine ("Fuck research, let's just use what the Double Fine guys are using!")
Given how finished gameplay looked for Wasteland 2, and how Double Fine is hiding their in game footage as much as possible, I suspect that Moai has been a poor choice as well, but is there any actual evidence for this?

I've also heard something about Double Fine having problems implementing saving and loading.

Regardless, Moai may or may not be decent enough, but it's fairly obvious at this point that Unity is the king of Kickstarter game engines.

At the least, Double Fine doesn't appear in a hurry to use Moai again. They're planning on using their internal engine for Massive Chalice. InXile on the other hand can't shut up about their love for Unity and is using it again on Torment.

Whether they're actually having significantly fewer issues is hard to tell since "unity is awesome" seems to be about the only thing inXile isn't shutting up about. ;)

I'm not sure that Double Fine is hiding in-game footage for that reason. Adventure game in-game footage (that's actually interesting and unique as opposed to just walking around) tends to be inherently spoilerish and Double Fine has been erring on the side of not spoiling their backers, at least partly at backer request.

inXile is happy because they can use a free-decent-engine. Praising it the least they can do about it, because they probably don't have the resources to invest in open source stuff.

As for DF and Moai, they have no problem implementing saving and loading, they have a problem implementing a game.

And they don't show shit not because they don't want to spoil us but because they don't have anything worthwhile to show.

I'm not sure you are not a retard.

Pretty disappointed about the delay too, but the release date is on my birthday so, I guess that works out somewhat. Plus it'll give me time to iron out my campaign idea some more.

It'd be nice if they were to squeeze the editor out early to Kickstarter backers at least. :M

Requesting "Extremely Upset About Double Fine" custom title for toro

The complete custom title should be "Extremely Upset About Imbeciles still supporting Double Fine (after all this Shit)".

But is too long and probably I will get only a Dumbfuck tag. Anyway thank you for your proposition, it probably come out of the kindness of your heart.

Does the editor have support for voice acting? I don't know if the game itself has any, I'm assuming it doesn't, but I think if a modder wanted to take a swing at some flavor voice acting it wouldn't hurt.

Glad they're delaying it. It's not easy to make games or get them to the point where you're satisfied with them. Take as much time as you need, Harebrained Schemes.

Hey guys, right now sounds/music are not exposed for GMs the way that portraits, 2d props, etc. are. Because of how Unity works, certain assets need to be processed more internally by the engine, rather than referenced externally.

I've updated the Wiki to remove those more hopeful "in theory" phrases that snuck in. Sorry for the confusion, it's a Wiki after all.

Whether or not sounds/music will be made more accessible in the future remains to be seen. It's safe to assume that this will not change before launch. And in the end, it may simply be a limitation of or performance reality of the engine that we'll need to accept.

I am a bit saddened, but I don't care as long as they deliver. Better a few months delay, and a polished game, than a buggy piece of shit, which will ruin the reputation and sales. As first impression is very important.
I'm guessing will be getting the 'best' of both worlds - a delayed AND buggy game.

At least the bugs would be polished, not like the half hearted Bethcrap. ;)

With the slow trickle of dissappointing features and cuts I'm sure they simply chew off too much. Do hope the end product will become a success, coz I'm convinced this will need quite a bit of post release support to really shine.

And I'm hoping for someone to recreate the Megadrive Shadowrun. :)

If someone remakes the previous Shadowrun games in the editor, it would be worth it if only for that. Plus i don't think the game will be bad, as long as you don't excpect the deepest mechanics ever

I doubt the game will be bad, I just bet it will be more simple than people would like. Whether they mismanaged their funds or that's just what you get for that price I can't really say with authority.

The editor, even if a simple one, should make it well worth the $15 though.

The "no scripting" nature of the editor was announced many months ago.

This, it was pretty clear this was gonna be a babbys first editor. I'm sure a lot more can be done by hacking into it though.
Actually having baby first editor could be good because it would allow more people to do campaigns, with alot of people making stuff, while 99% will be complete shit, there are more modules in the 1% category.

I wonder how long after release before this guy re-creates the entire Snes game.

Brooooooooooooofisttttttttttttt!
Man, this game come with an original campaign and potential for recreation of all Shadowrun console games and PnP recreations, this is a shitload of content. It will be like NWN made by more competent people (I don't know if the end result will be good but it will be hard for them to reach Bioware levels of incopetence) with a less retarded fan base.

This is my main concern that its gonna end u being streamlined and super simple. They already said that you can only allocate karma and level up specific chosen skills on only your PC.
