Is this an advertisement for Gamebryo Engine?

A gateway drug to working at Bethesda?

Something to put on a resume to be hired at prestigious AAA game studio?

Eh, I could see one more playthrough of Oblivion in my life, if it's tarted up a bit.

Autism manifest

They should remake morrowind in the Exult (open source Ultima 7) engine instead.

Maybe if they ask nicely they can be allowed in to the inner sanctum of the Wayward Realms.

I dont know if this project will be worthwhile in the end but i really like some of the armor redesigns that they have made for this.

The best part about Skyblivion is divergence from the original vision. All of those generic, machine generated locations are being hand-made into an actually interesting dungeons to explore. Everything that Skyrim has, but Oblivion hadn't. Worth a try for that alone.

anyone wanna team up and start working on a fundraising scam project for importing morrowind/oblivion/skyrim into TES6?

New development Diary is here. New locations, progress on developing cities and models is all good, but the showcase of the UI, Character Creation and entirely new lockpicking system is pure fire. Genuinely impressed with what they've achieved. If they deliver on only what they've shown so far we have the next legendary mod in the making, capable of making even Oblivion enjoyable.

I worry only for one thing: balance. Their work so far is beyond impressive, so rebalancing the game properly - more like Skyrim was - should be a given, but I worry nonetheless. Probably shuldn't, they seem too competent to fail on that front.

A lot of this looks great - the revised interiors are fantastic and the new stuff they're adding looks superb. But am I the only person who thinks some of the outdoor areas look kind of shit? Don't get me wrong, it's a great effort, but the trees seem even sparser than in vanilla Oblivion and the colours seem way too warm (and not in a way that makes it feel like a more "lore friendly" version of Cyrodiil or w/e). The area shown where they're talking about Spriggans in particular looks really weird.

It's no big deal since I'm sure it'll be trivial to change the tree models and density with mods, as it was with Skyrim, but it looks odd. Otherwise though this is all looking great, seems like it's all but guaranteed to be a huge step up compared to the original game, and maybe even a step up from Skyrim too.

Looks neat but as Lemming42 said, the colour palette is off. Really, the issue is that you're still playing Oblivion. Even if the cities and the world are a bit more logical and interesting, all of the factions and dialogue suck. It's a game for dummies.
