Kind of want to buy VR for desktop purposes so I can just lay in bed all day tbh
What else have you played in VR other than Skyrim?
WTF does VR do to a game anyway?
not even remotely the sameI suppose the difference in features is as big as the difference in price with these ten-dollar helmets where you put your phone? I got to try one but I found it absolutely underwhelming, even with a rollercoaster game or a rail-shooter with motion sensor controls. It was just... not remarkable.
Am I VR-resistant or are the two systems way too different to draw a conclusion?
I'm not into that vr fad at all so I don't know what's the difference but why not buy that soystation vr and connect it to pc? Should be at least a few times less expensive.$1500 I think.

It is definitely the future. But I wont buy it until:
1) The screens are bigger so you can move your eyes without seeing the edges of the screens.
2) The dpi/resolution gets better so the screendoor effect is gone.
3) A single graphics card capable of running two 4k screens at >60fps is under about $500.
4) The sickness thing is a lot better or preferably gone completely.
5) The only cable going into the headset is a thin one like a USB cable, rather than a big thick stiff power lead.
6) There are some good games that aren't gimmicky ipad crap or a modified version of Bethesda shit.
I look forward to buying one in about 30 years, on my deathbed.
Yeah, the Oculus and PS4 stuff are much lower quality than the set I got. I got the HTC Vive Pro which I think is the best one you can buy. The resolution is a lot higher than any other headsets and I figured if I'm going in with VR I might as well go all in. I wouldn't even consider getting a PS4 VR or Oculus for that reason. And I wouldn't call it shit until you actually try it. It's really something.
It might be hard to believe but it really feels like you're there. If the air was cold around me I'd swear I was really in a snowstorm in Skyrim, or flying down a roller coaster if there was wind in my face. It's not perfect but it's really damn good. I'd recommend anyone to at least try the HTC Vive Pro sometime if they can and decide for themselves if it's for them. Even my mom loves it and she probably uses it more than I do. She says it's the most mindblowing thing she's ever seen in her life and her jaw constantly drops over it, and she's 67 years old. It is pretty remarkable.
It's also not a fad, it's the future of gaming IMO.
1 - The screens are plenty big, and the field of view is quite wide.
2 - The resolution is not bad at all. You can crank it up also depending on your graphics card.
3 - Yeah, that would be sweet.
4 - What sickness? Motion sickness in Skyrim was because the character moves too fast. Turn it down and you're golden. Also, it takes about an hour or two of total usage to get your VR Legs and then any sickness is completely gone for good.
5 - You can get a wireless adapter like I'm doing. It's an antenna that makes the headset wireless.
6 - Agreed, but more games will be coming once people catch up on how cool the device is. So I'm sure we'll see many more interesting ones coming soon.
That sounds promising. I nearly bought the Vive actually but the number 6 was the killer for me. I need a new good open world shooty game like STALKER but in VR, a good action FPS (Halflife 3 -.-), some good RPG like Skyrim but not dumb and let me shoot magic with my hands or let me fight like real sword fighting, and some cool RTS and tabletop games to lean in and look at. (Someone needs to resurrect Supreme Commander). If there is some stuff like that, I'll get it even with less than perfect hardware. But so far I can barely get any of those experiences VR or not.
The number 1 I read is not as good as the Rift and it can harm immersion if you look up or down with your eyes and see the edge of the screen. And left and right. Number 2 I don't care that much about because I have slight fuzziness in my vision if I don't wear glasses so I am thinking it would obscure any screen door. The sickness was a turn off because a lot of people were talking about it. But I've seen others say it goes away after a while too.
Hand Interaction and Gravity Gloves for Skyrim (HIGGS) VR adds some much-needed VR mechanics to Skyrim VR. This mod:
- Adds collision to the player's hands
- Lets you pick up and throw objects with both hands (actually hold them in your hands, as opposed to the springy distant grab that exists in the vanilla game), and put them into your inventory by placing them over your shoulder
- Lets you pull objects towards you with gravity gloves-style mechanics.
- Lets you pick up and move bodies, which is a feature missing from the base game
- Lets you loot armor off of bodies by pulling it off
