BTW, one of my favorite side characters in Baldur's Gate saga is Drizzt, a drow. And yes, he appears in other games Menzoberranzan and you can even have him in your party for a short time. A lv 15 ranger with two +3 weapons in a game where you probably will end up at lv 10~13 depending on the class is incredible powerful.

Holy shit. You like Drizzt? And you're admitting it??

What is this site coming to?

When I created my account here in codex, I mostly had played 3.5E CRPG's and a very long P&P campaign with few one shots in between, I only started to check the 2E CRPG goodness and P&P retroclones, when spended a very long time unemployed. 2E CRPG's changed a lot my taste for gaming, my favorite class went from sorcerers to specialist mages, instead of only liking high level gameplay, I started to like mid level(still don't like much low level) and consider that the greatest problem of high level is that it trivializes many enemies. Just compare dealing with a mindflayer colony in epic level on NWN1 : HotU and in mid levels in Baldur's Gate 2 or Dark Sun :Wake of the ravager. In wake of the ravager, dealing with them at lv 10~13 and no freaking place to rest was way better. Also played a TT retro-clone for few months.

And it made me find lots of interesting characters which I never heard before Drizzt is one of them and has a pretty interesting story. He is a freaking high level army slaying guy and yet he is very humble. He reefers to himself as "a young warrior, in training".

Is sad to think that so many amazing 2E CRPG's will be forgotten cuz people can't get into due graphics and "chunkiness"

You're seriously triggering me rn. :argh:

Drizzt was a lame character that was symbolic of the decline of 2E and spawned a horde of dipshit characters that were all misunderstood drow who were actually good guys and dual wielded and had studied the blade since time immemorial and... :argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh:

I need to leave this for a bit. Fuck Drizzt.

If him is boring, which 2E characters do you consider good?

None of them?
Friends don't let friends read D&D novels if they're older than 14. Are you older than 14, Victor?

If you meant when I was a kid... eh, I don't remember. Most of them are pretty shit, Drizzt was just particularly bad and really did spawn a wave of copycats in the tabletop scene. Honestly, the whole racial alignment cannot be defined degeneracy you see now likely started with Drizzt. If not started then, it was at least a watershed moment.

I din't read the novels, just listened to videos about him while I was playing CRPG's.

Would start with another character.

But IMO a chaotic good drow like him should be a extremely rare anomaly like a straight male elf or a herbivorous lion. Because races in D&D are creation of the Gods which are created with certain traits.

My personal favorite was D.D., a mutated elf with 4 arms that fought with 4 katanas. The guy who played him wasn't very bright, as you might deduce from the name literally standing for "Double Drizzt".

God, how I miss playing D&D in high school.

It wasn't even his worst character, as this guy basically was the embodyment of his own parody. At one point, he played Z.D. (Zoro Drizzt), which was literally Drizzt with a sword in his mouth.

I think every high school-ish aged group has a guy or two like that. Or even all of them. I've certainly known a few.

The one coming to mind right now is a Shadowrun character made before the Max Payne video games were made where the guy named his character Max Payne. He had to give his name at a reception desk for some reason, so the receptionist asked what Max was short for. He replied Maximum. So I had the NPC laugh at him and stammer, "That's so stupid!" Which I did, for a good few minutes. Buddy turned red and the entire table had a laugh at his expense. Don't name your characters stupid shit at my table. ;)

One Piece! God that anime got so hard to follow. I remember trying to get back to it and making it to about 100 or was it 200 episodes then realizing I only made it one quarter through and gave up. It was great watching it as a kid but nowadays trying to get back to Naruto or One Piece is impossible due to how many episodes there are.

mediocrepoet Zoro is the anime swordsman who does the whole sword in his mouth thing.

I still have no idea what you're talking about, but I accept that it's some reference to some cartoon character and not Zorro.

EDIT: Google is my friend Pink Eye

This is the dumbest shit I've seen in a long while.

One Piece is full of wacky characters.

I started to watch at high school and took months to get in pace with launching episodes. There is a guy which is power is literally create and transform itself and his surroundings into mochi, other has the biscuit power and can create a army of animated biscuit warriors and a gigantic megazord style biscuit armor(Charlotte Cracker). In the main character's crew, we have a skeleton, a cyborg, a hentai girl with weather powers, a Triton and other crazy stuff. The main character has rubber powers and his transformations are :

If you think that a good drow with two swords is "dumb", you should watch anime. hu3hu3hu3

Why does this game allow me to roll 3 18s from 4d6 and put them to whatever stat I prefer? Might as well just put a max stats button in there.
There is, in fact, a max stat button in there. The game is already too easy as it is, playing with anything other than the standard array (or something very close to it) will only aggravate the inadequacy of the encounters.

It'll be interesting to see how they retrofit any new races into the Solasta setting, especially tieflings.

I am saving this for posterity so that years from now I can check if this is the dumbest thing I ever read on this site.
