Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
How micro-heavy is the mid game? Doesn't it turn into a micro management hell?
Depends on what you mean by micro heavy. pretty much after you set up the buildings, it just runs it self.
It is hard to say, but I still have PTSD from "The Guild", and I hate the late game phase in most 4X for instance (I usually don't play city builders, so it is hard to find a good comparison here).

If you set it up well enough (doesn't have to be autistic level), then it'll run itself.
At the end of my city building phase, it pretty much ran itself and I was just telling them what else to build or where to expand.
I was ready for the overworld map stuff but I wasn't really interested in that and sadly there's no way to actually expand your borders.

You can easily scale up buildings with blueprints and the game UI is pretty much designed to handle thousands of pops (or even tens of thousands).

Not sure if you are aware of this guys discord channel, it is great. He provides almost daily dev logs, usually something funny or interesting, or just plain dumb. And he is one of the rare kind of devs who plays his own game. There is ton of information regarding current progress and upcoming new features.

What's the discord? I wanna ask the question about the capitol scale thing.

new update adds an irigattion system to the game. there are still ground water to dig up but there are a fixed number of ground water spots available, but you now have to route water to places that needs them with a pump and a canal instead of just digging a new body of water.

There are other stuff too that are mentioned but iti s more detail in the vid.

cool. completely unnecessary stuff nobody asked for.
maybe, just maybe, the dev asked for this. this IS his game afterall.

genuinely not dickriding the dev but early access chuds seem to have this false sense of entitlement that THEY get to direct what gets added into the game and what shouldn't. selfishly leaving out the dev's own vision for what the game ought to be.

what if... just a thought exercise... what if... he's wrong? it may come as a surprise to you, but in [current year] "following my vision" means "doing retarded shit". just look at dunc. hell, look at star wars and its prequels where lucas was free to chase his vision.
and not everything must be an autism simulator like dwarf fortress.

its literally not the same thing as what the game dev is doing. with the example you've given, you're talking about downgrading an already established thing of great quality, tarnished by people who did not create the original thing with shitty remakes. This is a whole new thing being developed from the ground up by an individual and its uniquely his own project.

I'm glad the old system is gone. Being able to conjure water out of thin air was nonsensical and ultimately trivial. We're talking about one feature that used up a single week of devtime, the rest was spent on polish.

Everything must be an autism simulator.

There's a mod now that increases the building map size by 40%, I haven't tested it yet, but will later.
The creator added a field to manipulate the size of the building map, but after looking at the mod and talking on a reddit post about it, they saying that there might be an issue if you go above 40%, but for some reason they don't know the issue (no one bothered to test out lol), maybe it's just the usual "your computer won't be able to run it!" type thing. We'll see.

Uh, yeah, that's baseline for like every 4x or grand strategy game.
