What's the best 3D Sonic game to date? I have played none of them, I lost interest in the series when Adventure came out on DC. But I want something more colorful and wholesome than what I've been playing lately, and according to Steam tags a number of them have a Great Soundtrack, another thing I haven't experienced in a while.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 was janky, but the only one I played that didn't take control away from me with all the automation of the official games. You don't have those homing attacks, you don't lose control as he enters a loop or whatever and the levels are not so narrow like Sega's. It feels the most like classic Sonic in 3D.

There is an entire community dedicated to making mods and custom maps just for this game, some genuinely creative stuff.
:negative:
Maybe i made a mistake somewhere with my gamepad settings but i simply couldn't get used to controls in the end.

If we're talking about fangames i can easily recommend Sonic GT. Short but sweet.
Creators of this mod are currently making Rolling Rascal which is not out yet but the demo shows promise. Not a fan of main character design tho.

See? This is why playing Japanese games with Japanese dubs is pointless almost every time. You're still reading dub-titles. Cool that some fans scripted in the correct translations.

The entire game is endearingly shitty and the script doesn't help. The flag mission Tails has to do can go fuck itself though.

I dunno, I always found the game pretty wholesome. The story is solid too, almost as if it were an unravelling mystery that slowly escalates into an entire city being flooded by a giant monster. Compared to other 3D platformers, it's shakespeare.

"Endearingly Shitty" is the best descriptor I've ever seen for Sonic Adventure 1.

SA 1 is my favorite of the few 3D Sonics I've played. It's not a good game, but it hits a sweet spot of being "endearingly shitty". The Jank is above Gothic 1. The graphics are good enough to be discernable but just bad enough to still have uncanny abstraction. The story is a perfect balance of cringe and childish edge. It's great, go play it. You will feel like less of a man afterward though.

SA1 is the only one I would replay again but to be frank they are all shitty. Different genre but the Team Sonic Racing games however are really good.

Sonic's birthday in three two days. Tails tries to make money for a present. Fails at clearing up leaves. Fails at paper route. Goes to junk yard and makes him a flying machine. Tails in lab coat with crazy hair scientist, Prof. Von Schlemmer. Make machine together. Robotnik disguises himself as the professor. Tails asks him if something is wrong, says he's uglier than usual. Remembered this episode pretty well, for once. Nice feelings.

Laughed for some reason. I remembered the stupid off-model face and sad line.

Wondered at the beginning of this episode in which Sonic rushes around the planet for sabotages to transportation centers about him ever getting tired running and if that would kill the character or be lame. But that's exactly what happens in this episode, and it's fine.

As someone who bikes to and from work, basic bicycle safety rule is assuming everyone in a car is malicious and intends to kill you and pretend it was your fault. It's only true of like 10% of them, but that's really more than enough.

Meh. For being in the bike lane, I had a driver cut over it right in front of me, forcing me to push my breaks so hard that I flew forward and flipped over my front wheel, crashed onto my jaw, chipped a tooth (that had a cavity, but still), got a black eye from my glasses smashing my face, nearly broke my arm and had six stiches on my chin, whose height is no longer even. Drivers look out for other cars and people on the sidewalk, not cyclists in the bike lane, where, by the way, all the debris gets blown, puncturing tires and even making cyclists lose traction. Cyclists are lucky if the bike lanes they use, which are usually just the right part of the road, striped off, with zero protection, are regularly cleaned. Sonic doesn't know what cycling on Earth is like, and wouldn't believe the USA.

When I walk or bike I obey the one big navigation rule: The largest ship has right of way.

I apply the same thing to vehicles. I don't give a fuck if it's now illegal, I bike on the sidewalk for that reason and only get off to pass pedestrians.

The new bike lane shit is retarded. I'd never trust vehicles to use them.

But sidewalk slabs are so bumpy, and it's harder to navigate all the things (and pedestrians) that are on a sidewalk at bicycle speeds. Especially on and after trash pickup day. Assuming there's a sidewalk at all.
Less bikes and more Sonic. Happy hour sonic!

Sonic or any of them speedsters on a bike is ridiculous... they'd just explode into parts.

Wait a fucking minute! I don't see a bike lane at all there and wtf sonic. Tails is in the right lane at a stop sign. Maybe he'll go straight, left or right. I don't see him with his arms in the appropriate signals and that bike ain't equipped with signal lights. And WTF are you doing in the middle of the road? Ohhh! Sage advice there. Sure you can cross at corners because not every flipping corner has a damn crisswalk and you don't stop in the middle of the road and start up a parlay. Arrogant hedgehog!! Advice from Sonic.... HAH!!!
