Finished it, took me a bit over 3h.
I didn't hate my time with it, but it just isn't a good game.
The combat is way too simplistic, you lock in on the enemy, cant move, cant flee and you only got one attack. No skills, no defense, nothing. Only thing to consider is which of the 5 weapons (plus bomb) to choose. And this is for the late game. You start with 2 weapons only, I think it took me about 2h to find all 5. And if you are going Vitality, 95% of the time you will be using the Dagger anyway, after you get it a bit into the game that is.
Character system the same. You got 3 Attributes, Strength/Vitality/Luck. So either pump Str or Vit I guess, no need to balance anything out there, I went full Vit and was doing just fine. For the few enemies that require a Strength weapon bombs (early game) or the club works well enough with low Str.
That much I expected anyway, but I was hoping for some nice dungeon exploring. Sadly the maps are in practice tiny, and pretty much just a series of linear, often way too long, empty corridors. I actually started to map out the first level, after 10min I stopped. You won't get lost or disoriented anyway. Rush down corridor 1, track back to the beginning, rush down the 2nd, that's pretty much it. There are some other maps (City) but even these are not really interesting to explore. There are also barely any secrets, or I just didn't find many. I found some armor late in the game, a book with +1 Vit that's about it.
There also isn't much to find otherwise. Some potions and bombs, bombs pretty important early on, but rather useless in the 2nd half, even with Str as a dump stat. Health potions on hard are of course key I'd imagine. I played on normal, didn't want to bother with permadeath. Can't imagine hard mode to be any more fun, as you anyway have no choice but to spam attack any enemy. The challenge would be to know which enemies are blocking health potions and which enemies can be safely ignored.
