Two weeks before the ~holidays~ doesn't bode well for this product's stability/quality. Knights of the Old Republic 2 part 2 would be delightful, except this time they've been given years.

Why do you hate Obsidian so much, Roguey? Do you hope their bankruptcy will finally drive Sawyer into your desperate arms?

Unfortunately Obsidian is the best place for Sawyer to be since every other developer making RPGs is either worse at it or not a good fit.

I enjoy the misery of others and since Obsidian's already been paid for making it, its bombing would only hurt Obsidian's future contracts. It's in their best interests to get out of the console business because they haven't been nor will they ever be competitive. Working on parts of other peoples' games, Bethesda Fallout slamdunks if they're willing, and releasing self/crowd-funded PC games seems to be the way to go.

"Years" is a loaded and misleading way to put it. The game was announced on December 2011 and they started development also sometime in 2011. A year straight at most. THQ filed for bankruptcy a year later, on December 2012, halting development but the release date was already delayed before it came to that and assumptively, development started again sometime after the Ubisoft acquisition. So they had maybe two years and possibly some more at best.

I fear this will be yet another fine addition to Obsidian's catalogue of bugs.

This actually started development a couple of months before New Vegas hit the streets.

I don't follow.

It's what you would do if you want to sell a product to mostly uninformed, disinterested buyers...like many of those buying gifts for others who have zero knowledge of games.

"Oh, a South Park vidya game...that'll make a great present for Johnny".

Wasn't it the same with New Vegas commercials (or do I misrecall)?

There's obviously some bad karma involved in mentioning Obsidian in marketing shit.
That is nothing special about Obsidian. It is usual that the publisher takes all the credit. But also much of the blame, should something go very wrong. Of course, most of the blame is redirected to the actual developer. Dodgy publishers! ;)

The first Obsidian game I'm not going to play. I've even played and almost finished Dungeon Siege lol, but this - just not interested.

The trailer looks like the game could be some mindless fun, at least, and I don't even watch South Park. Not sure about paying full price for it though.

I wonder if Obsidian gets a cut - I guess that'll depend on the metacric score as usual, lol.

I'm gonna play it, i enjoy south park and most of what obsidian releases. The question is, will i pay for it? Being the holiday season, most people's budgets will be focused on other things than a niche rpg.

I will play it, and hopefully enjoy it - provided it isn't swarming with bugs.

That really was a horrible deal on their part.

An embarrassing game to be involved with, Obsidian must be feeling ashamed. It's not even decent comedy either, SP hasn't been "funny" for years and even when it was, it was at a low-brow level, and it was just allegory based on contemporary events - things that won't be funny in 12 months or more.

of course it has to be contemporary. they want to make contemporary satire. it's the best of its kind. perhaps you can mention something better?

South Park may be a little long in the tooth, but it's still funnier than Family Guy's FRICK'N CONSTANT employment of pop culture non sequiturs and slapstick.

"It's just like the Different Strokes episode when Gary Coleman got caught masturbating..." *flashback* hahaha *Peter walks into a wall.*

That's the entire show. Over and over.

edit: A little OT, yeah, but I really don't like Family Guy. :decline:

Better contemporary satire? I wouldn't know, and couldn't care. But the idea that feces jokes and casual antisemitism, as well as a general tone of immaturity, are in any way "funny" to an adult is ludicrous. I'm sure there exists better contemporary satire out there, because I could not imagine anything worse than SP.

I literally have no idea how Obsidian could of thought their talents would be anything but a waste on garbage like this.

Haven't watched it in years and never watched much to begin with, but some classic moments still come to mind. Like the 'Tom Cruise in the closet' episode for example.... "Get back in that closet Tom!"
