Haven't enjoyed South Park in recent times, but the NSA episode was actually amusing. Gave me a glimmer of hope but I'm still not expecting much from this game.

It's Obsidian and it's a real RPG, that alone should be enough!
But South Park is definitely more than just stupid fart jokes! Some people may not get the self-irony of this kind of jokes, and of course it doesn't have to be funny to everyone. But it's not just stupid idiocy!

The only good thing they have made in 10 years is one expansion. They have only made made 1 cRPG in those 10 years, and it was total shit and only somewhat redeemed by 1 decent expansion. All the rest of their games were console shit. This game is just a natural progression for their studio.

Every single thing I mentioned has at the very least an episode or two dedicated to it. That is SP, that is the show where a little boy spent an episode trying to get another little boy to literally lick his balls. It's a gross out, lowbrow show, and most of it's popularity is owed to the fact that it took disgusting to a whole new level.

What makes the show funny for me is satire. Most of the episodes revolve around satirical takes on American life and culture. I can understand not liking it for all the lowbrow elements, but it's just not true that those low brow elements are all the show is about.


I'm cautiously optimistic about this game for a few reasons. Obsidian has had forever to work on it, and it sounds like the south park creators had a large influence on the production, and from what I've read it sounds like they're into RPGs and would probably defer to Obsidian on design decisions. Plus it seems like Ubisoft is intentionally trying to avoid discussing the gameplay in their marketing material, which is probaby because they don't expect a traditional RPG to sell well.
