Positive innovations are not enough to make a good game. Not enough interesting things and too much boring stuff.

I like it. I wanted a Icewind Dale-style game without annoying stuff and heck, I got what I wanted. It's not perfect but I'm definitely not disappointed.

Definately win. Enjoyable combat, nice adventuring, trading and party conversation are just win.

And the promised updates with new and bigger dungeons/stuff better come!

It ain't a masterpiece but it's great fun. It's probably the most fun I've had with a game this year, and I've played quite a few.

It's Ok. That's between great and meh. Better than shit IWD but shittier combat, especially with insane amounts of worthless encounters. Without that, I'd give it great.

It's a worthy addition to the RPG genre. I love the aspect of exploration and questing, great fun. However, I feel that not even such good mechanics are a substitute to MotB like story telling and dialogs.

Basically, while SoZ is good I' rather have another MotB, even if it has those pesky epic levels.

It makes people talk about things other than FO3, so in my opinion it's a win. More SoZ threads, less FO3 ones, please.

Good that you brought FO3 up then.

Btw SoZ clearly is "duh".

Best all school game they could do with the revamped aurora, great for MP and custom content but not for combat. You can't do a better implementation of D&D fights than ToEE, excepting the AI, I wonder why they try. Just copy&paste Atari.

Can't believe this is from the same guys who made MotB.

What the fuck were Obsidian on when they made this?

...

the first 10 hours (the whole jungle part) were utter shit. nothing oldschool about fake dialogue, little to zero CnC, and tons of mindless, boring combat - if it were ... oblivion d be the king of oldschool (then again the first 10h of SoZ are definitly worse than even oblivion ). everyone defending those 10 hours as even remotely good cRPG is one giant douchebag who should shut the fuck up about games like mass effect or fallout 3 (which arent great but nowhere near the crap SoZ was in the first hours)

.....

i got over the first 10 hours though (somehow) and since crossroad keep i m starting to enjoy the game. some CnC, more detailed areas .... right now its playing at an NWN2 OC level, i.e. not great but enjoyable.

shame though, i looked forward to the jungle the most. could have been a really good background for a good exploration RPG. too bad they fucked it up completely.

but as someone who somewhat enjoyed the NWN2 OC (well, from act 2 onward ... then again compared to act 1 of SoZ act 1 of the OC was genious ^^) i m not suprisingly feeling at home in the 2nd part of SoZ and like it enough right now.

still butthurt about the ammount of rape i had to endure for 10 hours to get there and this may really dimish replay value.

Good game; it's pretty much the polar opposite of MotB, but good fun nonetheless.
Plus, the overland map, once properly fixed, can add another layer to future mods.

I really hate the engine. The game is cool. I haven't really gotten that far, but the story hasn't gripped me yet. Maybe I'm just burnt out after playing MotB.

I bet if the game was exactly the same, except the label said "Bethesda" instead of "Obsidian", everyone would be complaining about how much the game sucked.

Average. It was good but only for a while. There was some good ideas, though the whole game wasnt anything special.
