I'm not sure if you ever had the misfortune of watching his streams, but Spoony nowadays is basically an unlikeable asshole tempered further by jaded cynicism towards everything in life which he has accumulated over the years. He tries to hide it with "oh, I'm such a snarky reviewer" shtick, but it really comes through in his streams where he can't edit it out or be more careful about what he says. His Twitter shenanigans are just an indication of this.

I watched some of his recent videos, and unfortunately you are right. Funny thing is, every time he gets a girlfriend, the quality of his videos goes out of the window.

I don't really mind that April is in some of the movie review videos, but I think Spoony not just dropped but spiked the ball like an adventuring party of assholes does with Orc babies while doing the Superbowl shuffle when he didn't have his brother( who is a cop IRL) over during his review of Robocop.

Miles is a bit camera-shy, but he's relatively comfortable with it at this point. I'd watch/listen him review (and I do mean review) movies on his own, quite frankly. Spoony gets really repetitive (and quite boring as a result) with his rants while Miles tends to make well-thought-out, concise points when he's not interrupted and I can appreciate that even if I don't always agree with his opinions. Also, he's got shit to do so he wouldn't be able to sit in front of a camera for hours on end.

He's good at making reviews and if he stops making them, I'll stop watching. Whatever. It's not that good.

People seem to call this sort of thing a "review". Shorthand or not, it's wrong. Having said that, I still don't think Spoony does reviews at all. Most of his vlog review attempts end up being overlong, completely unscripted, unrestrained, repetitive and absolutely fucking boring rants. I've seen him bitch about that complaint (the lack of editing in his vlogs which is something he seems to think is impossible to do) and I have to say (again) that if he can't edit those down he really needs to self-moderate.

Well, he uses the same formula for games and movies, but his game videos do lean more towards reviews than his movie vids. I agree that overall he's better with games (though I'd do without FF past VIII, quite frankly. Those final few parts of VIII weren't that great either), but fundamentally even those are still first and foremost comedy, even though they may include reviewy bits.

I don't think there's a problem with Spoony launching a paetron campaign - it's a great funding site for people who have to deal with youtube's insane content policies and adblock removing large chunks of potential revenue - but his paetron goals and rewards are a terrible. Paetron is designed to pay out repeatedly, so its reward tiers should be something that can benefit from being paid out multiple times. Otherwise people will just pay once and then cancel their pledge once they've gotten their reward. The goal tiers, as well, all represent something that could be done with excess money, like you'd see in a kickstarter campaign. What is the counter monkey upgrade goal worth once he's spent the money on the new set and costume? Nothing.

Ah well, more power to him. I want to like Spoony, because he's pretty funny and we share a lot of the same interests, but quite frankly he's a gigantic asshole. I'll still watch his videos, but fucked if I'm paying him a dime for them, especially with the paetron campaign in the state it's in.

I watch spoony videos, just avoid the ones where he goes all derpy, those videos of him eating food and larping are disgusting and anyone that spend time watching those, go watch paint dry, it's more fun. He has a decent enough voice so I don't want to strangle him like some "youtube people" have and he is one of the few nerds that actually know shit and do interesting commentaries of old games. I think his problem is that his site and videos are a mess, if he organized shit better he could do so much better.The problem is that he seems to not care.

And by the seventeen testicles of Slaanesh, 10 folks are paying him ONE HUNDRED DORRAR PER MONTH to get an audio review of some kind. This might have even been more if not for the limit. I imagine the number will go down over time as he fulfills the one-off pledge promises, unless he plans to give people a 30 second audio message every month or something. Even then the novelty of that would wear off quickly. Still, it's a pretty smart move on his part. Paetron seems to be taking off (I've seen other internet content producers do the same) and Spoony has a fairly sizable fanbase for an internet critic. And hell, if people will buy the DVDs of the TGWTG anniversary movies, they'll probably be willing to pay Spoony's monthly bills. With that much cash and the money he gets from advertising, he'll be living pretty well.
