Just curious how does metro 2033 or first light stack up against stalker? I never really payed much attention to the metro games, but I have played all 3 stalker games far too many times to go through them again.

Played a couple hours of the first Metro and gave up. Too linear for my tastes.

The first game looks like a carbon copy of Stalker in some respects. Especially the character models. The feel and atmosphere is the same, but it's much more linear in the vein of Half Life, rather than being faux open world like Stalker.

So, Misery 2.0 gets released tomorrow, apparently after years in the making. Any one here play Misery 1.0? Was it any good? Should I try the new version?

I opened this thread to question whats the point in playing Shadow of Chernobyl if you have finished MISERY.

To this day I still dont see the point.

(Yes, MISERY is great )

What I dislike about Misery is that they replace the music with their own stuff. I don't like the new music. :(

Good god, Misery 2.0 is atmospheric. I spawn in in the middle of a storm, in the middle of nowhere and all around me I just see mutants.

Fuck no. I'll play this tomorrow. My nerves can't handle this right now.

Misery 2 is kinda silly with the bloated inventory.
Got chased but by a doggie and I chase it away with a couple of shots, without mods they rarely run away unless they are near death.

I'm glad to see they fixed the stamina loss. The previous version of Misery was almost unplayable, because it played like an obesity simulator. Run 50m with less than 15kg in your backpack and you'd have to stop and wait for your stamina to return.

They fixed it in the 1.1 patch a long time ago. It played great and stamina was normal. They never intended it to work as an obesity simulator.

I wanted to ask if there is any new content (as in new missions and new things to do) in MISERY 2 or it is just an improved version of the original MISERY?

DraQ - do you happen to know if one can just disable the Misery music, or replace it with the older one? I am fine with the mod if not for that small detail..

Graphical porn hiking simulator. The game itself is merely 'okay' regardless of what mods and tweaks you install. Perhaps CoP is far superior than SoC but I doubt it.

Speaking of SoC, does anyone play Stalkersoup? How's that coming along?

You haven't played it yet?

While I finished Stalker I had only played CoP for about an hour or so before I got sidetracked. Stalker didn't impress me that much and while I could see areas where CoP made improvements it didn't particularly hold my interest.

It was an improvement overall over SoC, yes, but no point forcing it if you don't like the basic gameplay (which remains the same). Still, plenty of worse games out there to waste time on if you're ever bored with nothing else to play.

I thought the gameplay, at least as far as the shooting, was fine. I still found SoC's world a bit vacant and the attempt at factions/quests poorly implemented.

I do get what you mean, but isn't that the point of the zone? That it's not flourisihing with life and people?

What I like about STALKER is that everything doesn't revolve around you. The world goes on no matter what you do. If you come across a corpse in the wilderness, it's not because the developers placed it there, it's because that stalker was busy doing his own thing and got killed. Sometimes I would just camp in areas and watch what the stalkers did through my binoculars. It was particularly interesting watching how enemy camps would change ownership. One moment bandits would live there, the next a group of stalkers would shoot it up and take it for themselves, then the next moment a pack of flesh would pass through and kill the lot of them.
