Was there any benefit of fully building a settlement in FO4? Or its just pure autism?

It contributes nothing to the rpg side of the game, it makes the easy game even easier, it's busywork in order for you to have 20k bottles of purified water, it breaks survival mode, it makes the game scrap simulator. There's plenty of reason to avoid this retarded shit.
Yes, but remember what you're discussing here. It's a toy designed for kids, a game that does not align with your personal preferences nor age group. However, if you have young kids or younger siblings, you'll observe them deriving immense enjoyment from it. Same for skyrim.

Bethesda meeting investors:
Todd: "Cool so i and Pete had derived great plan to increase the engagement metric, we will slap the kids builder game to our RPG"
Investor: And that will work?
Todd: Yes, we know that children will play the game despite the rating and its like building sand castles for them
Investor: Hmm if slapping genres work like that, why not to place another module, maybe dedicated sexual module for older players who enjoy this side of game instead of exploration and roleplay?
Todd: That's too brazen
Little was known that the Sven Vicke, the psijic order monk was watching the meeting in his aether bubble getting ideas for the next baldurs gate

Well if that works, why not slap other modules, other game elements to cater to every demographic? Just make the game mashup of various slop. Everyone will do some disjointed activities, that doesn't form any cohesive mess in terms of game mechanics, just because the engagement metrics and sales will increase as the population gets more idiotic and accepting of shit.
Incorporating modules of a sexual nature into a video game, even one with a rating, could prove to be highly detrimental in USA, especially since the game is still perceived there as something primarily meant for kids. Such content could potentially spell the downfall for the game and the company. Additionally, there's the ongoing challenge of selling the game in mainstream outlets like Walmart, which has its own set of guidelines and limitations.
Thanksfully an european studio like Larian has chosen to disregard these concerns entirely.

Oh, come on, post some cliffnotes.

the biggest dissapointment so far is that random locations are copypasted to hell and there's no reason to explore anything because points of real interest are always shown on the planet map and you can't find anything cool by landing around on the planet - it's daggerfall all over again. But at least everything else seems solid

Yeah, this is one thing I really don't like. There is no exploration if the map tells you where everything is by default.

Incorrect, since in Daggerfall you could go anywhere in the world. Starfield, like the rest of Todd Howard's theme parks, are extremely limited in scope. Hell, the dungeons in Daggerfall are massive and take ages to complete. Compare that to the ones in Todd's dumb ass theme parks. You can finish most in 10 minutes or less.

We all know that mainstream reviewers cannot be trusted but lower scores than typical AAA normie hype "10/10 best gaem evah" stuff makes me expect two things: its either one of those rare times where even the lowest gaming creatures called journalist start to question the quality of drivel served to them or maybe there are some actuall qualities in Starfield that are beyond their scope. There is a weak chance that we will be able to call a modern Bethesda game great, those chances are even lower for calling it a good rpg but in my opinion if we will be able to say that Starfield has better systems than Fallout 4 or even Skyrim if we are lucky, there is a real possibility for incline in the future, no matter how small. Bethesda gameplay package is so specific and without real competition that it will always sell, my main point of interest in Starfield is to see if devs coming from development of Far Harbour expansion, that if the rumors are true had some real decent RPG qualities, could bring back at least some dignity to Bethesda games, this game certainly will not be a new Morrowind but maybe there is a chance for another Skyrim or Oblivion maybe.

On the other hand i wonder what will be the endgame of Starfield, considering that Bethesda games are in large part modding platforms and that is their main appeal (besides general openess and exploration), Starfield longterm popularity will depend on its modding possibilities. The thing is it doesnt have the established setting of Fallout and TES that would lure the more common denominator, no matter how moddable the game is, without modders and community that would fuel them its longevity will be reduced drastically.
From my perspective this could be negated by the fact that Starfield after all is a sci fi game with space travel, the prospect of molding that base into one of the many popular sci fi settings could replace the general lack of established one. Lack of competition from current main 3d space games on this field ( Elite Dangerous has no moddable singleplayer mode, Star Citizen modding will be nonexistent thanks to being a multiplayer game and its sp modules is either in far future or its a non existant vapourware, i dont know how No Mans Sky modding situation looks but from few looks at its Nexus its mainly graphical stuff but easily i can be wrong) could support that further.
Of course from the gameplay perspective Starfield will be naturally inferior to more established niche indie stuff like X4 (i didnt play it but from what i heard about its living world, economy and general simulationist approach to the state of the world it sounds really impressive) or older titles but we all know that autistic powers of Bethestard modders should not be underestimated, for every hundred of coomer stuff there will be few mods with actual quality and considering the amounts of mods that those people produce its not going to be a small number. And we cant forget about those random gigantic projects hanging in the background that either crash and burn or are good enough for people to install the game only for them.

Anyone was bored enough to actually watch some of these reviews? I need to know if it has enough freaky sex and fetishes to potentially upset BG3 as GOTY.

Also a less important question, how much of the game is actually handcrafted content, and not proc gen trash?

For those retards that think I'm wrong about texture size=/=texture resolution.

Standard Texture Sizes

Most graphics hardware requires that your texture images always be a size that is a power of two in each dimension. That means you can use any of the following choices for a texture size: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, or so on (but unless you have a really high-end card, you’ll probably need to stop there).

The textures don’t usually have to be square: they don’t have to have the same size in both dimensions. But each dimension does usually have to be a power of two. So 64 × 128 is all right, for instance, or 512 × 32, or 256 × 256. But you can’t make a texture image that is 200 × 200 pixels, since 200 isn’t a power of two.

By default, Panda3D will automatically rescale any texture image down to the nearest smaller power of two when you read it from disk, so you usually don’t have to think about this–but your application will load faster if you scale your textures properly in the first place.

If you would like Panda3D to rescale your images up to the next larger power of two instead of down to the next smaller power of two, use:

https://docs.panda3d.org/1.10/python/programming/texturing/choosing-a-texture-size

https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/64106/best-practices-of-texture-size

Texture size is the resolution of the texture and is in a power of 2.

You're talking about different things.
Texture resolution is different from render resolution, which is what upscalers change, they don't touch texture resolution. Render resolution refers to the numbers of pixels rendered and displayed on the the screen. A game rendered at 4K has to render 8,294,400 pixels, using fsr/dlss you can render the image at 1080p (2,073,600 pixels) and upscaling the resulting frame to 4k.
What you link there refers to mipmaps and texel density, things that have nothing to do with upscaling.
Mipmaps dynamically change the resolution of a texture based on camera distance(it's used so that you don't render a 4k texture on an object 500m away, where you can't see the difference), and texel density is used as a measurement to ensure that all your texture have a cohesive look between them (in terms of texture resolution).

Mortismal did his usual shill routine.
Gopher didn't actually review the game. He just played a few hours and said "wow, it's so big and runs great on my $5000+ PC! Full review coming soon! great bethesda gaem!"
Luke Stephens, despite sounding like an effeminate nu-male, actually showed the bugs, talked about all the loading screens and several of the broken promises.

Skim this one and ignore the others:
