with how granular the turns are, a 100 turns is nothing and 3 percent on top of a bunch of other percent effects is something
Yeah, this is always shit logic. It's like arguing that going 3% faster on the road saves you hours in the long run, when the reality is you end up getting stuck at breakpoints and waiting around for that extra time instead.

If a 3% buff were going to make a difference so would random variance on your first attack roll. Such minor differences in equipment are a sign of a developer that can't math his way out of a paper bag.

enchanted items are by and large worthless
Wrong.

Anywho, my two stash tabs at camp are full, you uh, you niggas find them spacious chests somewhere?
I swear I saw one of the niggas in either Osbrook or Mannshire have it on sale, probably same as with the sturdy chests, a carpenter
could be a matter of reaching the final level of relations, if you've checked and haven't found any on sale by the usual suspects
Yup you were right, found it at the carpenter in Mannshire. Fucking finally, I bribed the carpenter guild master in Brynn, recruited all the camp followers thinking they'd have it, when it was just in Mannshire all along, although it probably was locked behind a higher reputation level.

Dunno in what universe it's complete. There's very little in there aside from a huge map to wonder around and to do "contracts". There's no factions yet, no plot so to speak. Sure there's plenty of NPCs too already and some quests even but that's all spread very thin. Sometimes I wonder why they even bothered with plans to make a proper RPG when they could do some sort of rogue-like dungeon to dungeon game since it's the meat and potatoes of this currently anyway.

Also it's an interesting question what are they gonna do with progression: currently there's 30lvl cap and then some gear progression left too but that's it, obviously speaking. Again, while all the major factions and their stuff is supposedly missing. There has to be reason coined to do any of that. Right now I imagine it could match my Drova experience: wandered around, explored most of the map, char progression got stingy so I started doing plot quests but quickly got bored and dropped the game.

Did the dev publish any sort of roadmap?
They were posting those in the past but it's all useless. They moved dates a lot with all kinds of excuses. More importantly they clearly don't have a real one themselves, they constantly reworking stuff ten times over. It is what it is. Waiting for the "full release" is futile. At some point in the future if they get tired of this project they might just quickly wrap it up, slap that 1.0 label and move on to the next big "cow" game.

...The game is basically complete...
Get out of town, it's really nearly finished? Wow, I've burried my hopes for this game ages ago, along with the likes of Chaos Chronicles.
Please don't hurt me. I don't believe this. Is it?
It's absolutely not complete, and won't be for years still, don't bother
Thought as much. Back to normal brooding sentiment.
I mean, this game is one of those especially brain-rotting EAs.
Not because of the premise being bad—far from it—but for all the worst EA stereotypes tied to its 'development'.

Yet the game seems to be shaping up fun
Yeah you should try it anyway. Like I said, it's take it or leave it kind of deal. Even if this thing will release eventually it might be quite different gaming experience from now. It's very telling that the devs provided plenty of older builds too on Steam:

I wouldn't check on it every now and then if I didn't believe it was fun AND, most importantly, full of potential.
The crux of every EA indieshit title. "IT HAS POTENTIAL!"
In the same way Star Citizen does, yes.
I think it's unfair to compare a game made by an industry veteran selling "micro"transactions for thousands of dollars to one made by a truly small studio making their vision of an RPG, but it's true that I wouldn't recommend a purchase atm

Yeah, potential in itself doesn't mean anything with these eternal EA games. However if a game is fun in its current state, it's fun. And this one qualifies.

I call bullshit. It's at v0.9, although going from v0.8 to v0.9 did take 18 months.

https://stoneshard.com/wiki/Development_roadmap

The development roadmap doesn't list much else to do. Except for --
1) Major story arcs
2) More ability trees
3) More locations/cities (sic - factions)
4) Switching characters in your caravan
5) Controller support

In regards to (1), the game has some story but seems like a perfectly cromulent sandbox game.

So, about, 12 to 15 years?
I like how you didn't mention character creation.

At this point I don't see what character creation would offer, other than a custom portrait. You're still stuck with the unfinished skill selection.

What the fuck did they do to the combat log text?
It's still slowly one by one scrolling down and telling me about a combat encounter I had literal minutes ago.

Currently playing a permadeath magicless staff guy. Still need to decide between medium or heavy armour, peharps light but im not going full dodge. Works surprisingly well if you play with walls and obstacules in mind for easy daze/stuns. Still neeed to put the build to the test with bandit dungeons and tier 4/5. Also have not fought the manticore.
My honest opnion on the update and how the game feels right now: the update did some great stuff, the caravan in particular is a godsend and its fun to upgrade it little by little and fill it with companions. The dungeons changes look nice but unless you are playing a really tank build, the changes incentivize pulling enemies little by little to not get overwhelmed (which depending on how you feel, its a bad thing/it incentivizes playing like a pussy all the time). The update also highlight how monotonous walking really is when you are not using the new caravan system.

At the end, the game is still the same but with extra fluff that makes playing feel nicer. Game is really good if you are the dungeon crawler and loot goblin/gear upgrader type of guy. Too bad its going to take 2 more years for another major update.

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign
Looking forward to the new roadmap because that means I at least have some understanding of what will NOT be happening by certain months or quarters -- because nothing in it will happen as they lay it out.

Still a good game of course, but also still decades from finishing at the snail's pace they're going. Like anybody truly thinks this game will ever "finish" with all the planned features they have, just like Sui Generis.
