Yes, it's D&D...and it's apparently PC only and not looks SO actiony: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/02/12/new-dungeons-dragons-game-storm-coast-legends-coming-in-2015

NEW DUNGEONS & DRAGONS GAME STORM COAST LEGENDS COMING IN 2015

A new Dungeons & Dragons game is coming to PC in 2015. Developed in collaboration by n-Space and Digital Extremes, Storm Coast Legends will allow parties of up to four human players to cooperate in adventures managed in real-time by human Dungeon Masters.

According to the developers, Storm Coast Legends will promote a storytelling relationship between Dungeon Masters and player characters that transcends the adversarial roles of typical 4v1 multiplayer. Much like traditional tabletop Dungeons & Dragons, the goal is to create a mutually satisfying play experience tailored to a particular group's tastes. If a party of players is looking for a particular challenge, the DM will be incentivized to provide it, but she’ll also be equipped with tools which allow her to help the players out of jams and advance the story. Dungeon Masters will be rewarded for creating and conducting engaging adventures.

“Dungeon Master Mode is going to allow players to quickly jump in and play as a real-time DM in a way that has never really been fully realized in a video game,” said Dan Tudge, President of n-Space. “DMs are able to adjust encounters, place, promote, manage and even control monsters, set traps, reward and punish party members – all in real time.“

No scripting will be required to utilize DM Mode. In addition to the real-time interaction interface, Storm Coast Legends will also include campaign mode tools allowing Dungeon Masters to create larger customized scenarios.

Players may cooperate with up to three other friends to create a custom four-person party. Storm Coast Legends also allows players the option to play in a more traditional single-player-controlled party structure, leading a group of adventurers composed of allies recruited within the game

The developers hope Storm Coast Legends will invoke the spirit of previous classical fantasy RPGs. “When I directed Dragon Age: Origins the mission was to create the ‘spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate’ and I think players really felt like Origins achieved that,” said Tudge. “With Sword Coast Legends we are also continuing the legacy of the Baldur’s Gate series so you will see strong influences from not only those games, but from Dragon Age: Origins as well. You will definitely feel the influence in the tactical party-based combat, pause and play and character progression, but it’s the rich story and memorable characters where the influence is strongest.“

The studio is still pretty mum on the substance of this story, or on just how the narrative, single player, and multiplayer experiences interweave. Storm Coast Legends' mechanics are inspired by the 5th Edition D&D rules set, and series staples like Magic Missile, Mordenkeinen’s Sword, and Fireball make appearances. The developers also hinted that players acquainted with The Forgotten Realms setting would find plenty of recognizable material. "You can certainly expect to visit iconic locations along the Sword Coast," said Tudge, "and you may even run into a few familiar faces along the way." The studios also plan post-launch DLC modules to expand the universe.

Storm Coast is slated for release on Steam and other digital distribution platforms sometime in 2015.
Dude you should've started a separate thread for this post. Now I just read the interesting title and had to do a lot of browsing through pointless shit to get to the real announcement. Don't bend to Megathreaditron's will.

This game wouldn't exist without the recent incline. They're blatantly trying to cash in on the RPG resurrection.

Which is why it will almost certainly suck. You can always tell when a company actually wanted to make the game they made, and when they just made it for a quick buck.

god dammit ! out of all the realms in d&d they make another shitty sword coast game, you can meet drizzt, generic crap. Will you implement 5th edition as faithful as possible ? No, were making an inspired rtwp piece of shit. Oh good, good, them rulez is too confusing. Will it have an awesome story to be remembered for years to come ? No, no, we're putting all our chips on the retarded "online real time human DM" concept that has failed again and again in the past. But there will be a single player campaign ? Only as an after thought. It will be shitty and generic and boring and bland and put togehter by interns to showcase the shitty editor. But the good news is that shitty modders can create their own shitty, forgetable modules with our awesome editor that actually only has 3-4 assets for every category so you can design copy-paste shitty 3d maps that all glisen in the bloom. Does this mean the human race sucks as a whole ? Why, yes, yes it does.

That's not entirely fair on the developer. You may be right (probably are) that this is a game that only got the pass because of recent successful RPG releases, however that's not to say it's not something that the developers didn't want to make this all the time as much as it is the publishers / suits refusing them. Perhaps they've wanted to do something like this for a longer time but only now got the thumbs up?

I am amused by the Dungeon Master segment in the video around a minute in. So now, instead of fighting pre-scripted waves of enemies falling out of the ceiling, you have DM-directed waves of enemies falling out of the ceiling!

Seriously, though, I don't expect that kind of DM thing to necessarily be good for much, but it might be interesting if it's approached more from the perspective of co-op computer games than traditional RPGs. From what I've gathered from the Neverwinter Nights DM toolset, it had a lot of power but it takes a great deal of preparation to actually run a game with - for most people, if you want to play a pen-and-paper style game, it's more fun to either do it the traditional way in meatspace or, if it's online, in an IRC channel or something. In this case, I get the sense that it's a lot less ambitious - it's all jump-in and adjusting and conducting and customisation instead of, y'know, "create your own worlds with our incredibly powerful development toolset", which is how this sort of thing was traditionally advertised. The thing is, this might actually be a good idea for a computer game - I imagine that the DM thing is more of a way to spice up pre-existing multiplayer content rather than an attempt to realise some never-realised facsimile of traditional roleplaying within a computer game. In that case, it wouldn't be much of an RPG but it could conceivably be fun.

Honestly, I'm just shocked it's not a Free-2-Play mobile game, with "pay to win" microtransactions. Which isn't to say they don't have all sorts of time to fuck this thing up, but credit where it's due; it almost feels like they're trying again.

There isn't even anything to support that this would be some quick or easy bucks. Its not like any kickstarted game have been bringing in a lot of money or sold like potatoes in Poland. it also looks like they worked for quite a while on it as they do have something to show.

I will keep away my sceptacles for now. This was a bit better than my expectations. Hardly mindblowing, but possibly decent.

Is there anything at all that indicates this is different than generic, co-op crap? Everything I read and see so far looks like utter co-op crap. Any reason some people are optimistic? Something I've missed?

People are optimistic because it's a D&D game.

The same. It looks like a half-assed NWN. No servers. No toolkit. Nothing special. Just a co-op game where you can create your own adventurers (Neverwinter Online anyone?). Want to throw minions at your players? There's a dungeon game already for it.

IF it was something like NWN, with everything included, then I would be more optimistic. Now it's meh, nothing special.

While it seems the co-op mode is a big focus for them, they say there's single player campaign where you control all characters.
