Playing the demo right now.

It's deliciously oldschool, from the attribute system to the UI. There even is ammunition. This is what Pillars of Eternity should have been like.

The writing seems like a big leap forward from clumsy ATOM times. A really noteworthy improvement.

My only complaint right now is that fog of war is too restrictive. May be stat based (I only have Attention 2)? Still, bad decision IMO. Feels like playing a blind man. You should try to find some other way to not make it a dump stat if that's your intention.

I'm playing a noble who's only good at bladed weapons, outdoorsman and intimidation. With no crafting, haggling or thieving, I don't know how viable this build is, but I'm sensing a lot of replay value in this game. Not a fan of skill points based on Intelligence, leave that shit in Fallout IMO. But it IS another oldschool decision.

Is there a penalty for firing in melee? My companion seemed to do fine.

All things considered this is my most anticipated game now. Two thumbs up ATOM Team

Playing demo on 4k, Linux - cursor and mouse hover tooltips for items in game (after pressing ALT, i.e) look tiny and are unreadable.
Rest of the text, menus, inventory, etc. are scaled ok.

Early Access 12.12.2024

Greetings and salutations, friends and dear backers!

Today, we are very excited to share our final update before Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy is released into Early Access.

This long-awaited milestone is scheduled for December 12, 2024, when the game will finally arrive on both Steam and GOG.

There is still a lot of work to be done before we achieve the desired build quality, and everything is continually being tweaked, updated, and bug-fixed to provide the best experience possible. Here are some of the features we are currently working on.

First of all, let's discuss the stealth mechanics. As you know from the demo, we aimed to make stealth a more active and influential system than in our previous games. Now, stealth includes the ability to see enemies' detection zones and features a covert strike mechanic that allows you to land the first blow in combat for double damage.

We've added many more diverse special encounters to the world map, including additional battles, hunting and foraging options, and text-based adventures. They not only serve as a distraction from your main goals in the game but also provide special items, experience, and loot.

New locations are also in the works. We have added an extra layer of polish to the background-specific dungeons and improved those that every player will encounter.

We have also introduced new mini-bosses and enhanced the existing enemies with new skill sets and animations to provide a better overall combat experience.

Ironing out kinks is as important as introducing new content, so we've improved several features of character creation. We also added new combat and mundane animations, weapons, armour, crafting recipes, and much more.

Backer-exclusive content is also being finalised, so prepare to use your special codes to unlock whatever special items that come with your reward!

See you on the 12th of December 2024!

All Kickstarter backers (Knight-errant or above) will receive their game key(s) one week before the official Early Access release date! Keep an eye on your inbox for the key delivery date.

For our high-tier backers, we'll begin work on your custom content starting in January. So don't worry – we'll be reaching out to you soon.

Hey fellas!
Sorry for neglecting the thread, there are cool reasons though. News days are a rare opportunity to chat, so I'll go end to front until my hands are tired.

How long will be the Early Access period?
A WHOLE YEAR IF NOT MORE, PROBABLY LESS!

I assume the EA will not be a complete game?
Nope, not in the slightest! I'd say it will be a fifth, maybe a quarter. At least by my estimations.

Thanks man!
As it always happens with our in-progress games everything is constantly changing, and the state of the demo is something very different from what I have in the editor. Currently the fog is indeed dependent on Att, though I don't think it's as strict in the current build. I did a playthrough with 2 att recently and it was not bothering me at all.
Builds are a weird thing in the game, i think this time every single one is viable, like literally any stat and skill combo can go through everything in the game right now, but some have it much easier than others. And it's kinda surprising, because you'd think a str - end - dex dude would be the best character, but in the current meta it's actually an int-attention-luck dude that takes the cake. All prone to change of course, it's being changed constantly.

We're doing a lot of QOL stuff for the game, now even an alternate font is in the works for people like me who can't read the antiqua one, though I have no idea whether it will be ready by EA.
Custom sizes for stuff are in the works too.

Much of the Swordhaven and its world remains to be seen. I'm pretty certain this world has many surprises up his sleeve. BASED low fantasy Baldur's Gate made in 2020s by team with experience? What's not to like. You can wish for it to be thousand different things, but what's not to like about fact it is being made. Fucking cool
That world sure is something. One of my favorite things about the game, second only to the Pork Lad system of receiving special tallow.
Wrapped up demo at lvl 3. Got poor dood killed by barbarians. Killed a big frog, some flies, rats, wolves and spiders. Bought an expensive barrel.
Take my money.
:takemymoney:
Just hold on to that barrel, it's very important!
Enjoyed the demo. Got killed by swarm of rats in a field.
:negative:
I made them balanced now, never again!

We can only hope audio isn't final either. Bro sounds like he has an extra chromosome and that dinosaur purrs like a kitty
Noo, not in the slightest. I actually think that just like with prev games, audio will be update until we're in full release mode. There are thousands of things that need sounds to them, and there's like always a better sound somewhere out there, so we're changing them up constantly, getting new libraries all day long.

With that close-up camera the game looks eerily similar to Hard To Be a God.
Now why would this be? It's probably just a coincidence.
Dang, I prefer text.
We'll do both, of course
I hope they don't skim out on the death animations this time around. They were the best part of Fallout's combat and yet were strangely absent from ATOM
Getting closer to those, but we need to finish up combat ones first, and give people in peaceful towns stuff to do. Like a butter churning animation, or taking a crap in the outhouse animation. Deaths will be there too!

Less women in fighting positions in gritty, realistic world filled with raptors, dragons and bandits. Do not do Dragonagefication of your world. Frankly, I can't give two shits how this sounds, I'm just being realistic. Do not get angry at me, I ain't Architect of human species. I repeat: I am not Architect of Human species. Sassy slavic women in dangerous situations are as funny as sassy black women without whom Apollo 11 mission would never lift of the ground. Just LMAO. These are at least nice to look at. Again, reality of any believable fantasy world to where Humanity is transported inside video game or movie has to be based on physical realities of our universe. At its foundation. Then you build up. With alien environment, magic, wild beasts and how all of that impacts humans and dynamics inside human societies. Warrior princess? Sure! 1 in 1000. Stronk woman badass mercenary? Yes! One in thousand, and no she can't look like bakery girl from Belgrade or Moscow. Maybe she can, but not with noodle arms. Sneaky assassin woman? Yes! Make her sexy and weild her beauty as deadly weapon? Yes Yes Yes! 30 in 1000. Magic is wielded by women only because <insert some reason>. How that affects pre-industrial society with heavy reliance on male strength and patriarchal hierarchy. And so on and so on. Have diffetent communities in different contexts and depict them. Have outliers! Make them interesting! But they have to inhabit believable world first

Capiche? I hope you capiche. Do not kill versimilitude. Do not have female guards in 16th century faux Saint Petersburg while we have countless videos of London lesbian squad of 7 female police running away from single migrant and hiding behind fat, scared male colleague in year 2024. Be fuckin real in fantasy world. That's all

Grauken, you cuck, your wife just wrote me to tell you to take garbage out and throw yourself into dumpster while I'm done plowing her. Batshit stupid pumpkin. Go ahead and say how this is not exactly the formula how every piece of fiction, from LotR to Conan to early 2000s and even 2010s was written. Stuck in moment retard. Well moment is changing and so will your "beliefs" in year or two. Majority of people and game devs swing with winds of time. Countless evidence for that. I hope Atom Team ain't like that. And I know they ain't

I love women, I'm older brother to 5 younger sisters, but I fucking can't bear to look at screen with 50%-50% male-female bandit parties. I could when I was 17yo in Skyrim. I can't in 2024 when I'm 30. I have experienced too much reality for me to believe in that

Sorry, your tiny dick won't satisfy her.

Maybe you shouldn't have played Skyrim for 13 years, it does damage to the brain
