Had hopes for this but it's a reskinned Dead Island. Techland lost their sugar daddy, Derp Silver, so if you notice the next few games from there are identical to Dead Island. This and the upcoming Dying Light. Some of these games you guys cover... oof.

How about checking out/interviewing this guy: http://www.darkdale.net

Wait, was this interview done before or after andy was banned? If after, why/how are you guys still keeping 'in contact' with him? FREE ANDY, etc., etc.

It seems that they are really proud of their game engine (capable to display physics and multiplayer) and want to create all kinds of games with similar techniques out of it. Which isn't a bad thing, but I agree that often things look copy-pasted/reskinned.

That looks kinda nice, what kind of gameplay is it? Grid-Based? Real-time? Turn-based?

Edit: ah they wrote "true to tile based". So assuming another Legend of Grimrock.

If it's Mount & Blade like, then all's good.

this is your Earth humor, right? this eternal obvious beta, the most fabulously broken shit on Steam, is some kind of standard for you? it's a good thing M+B got in before Greenlight was a thing, because they'd never've gotten past quality control.

That's the most generic game I've seen in a while.

My aim is not to reinvent the RPG genre, but offer a fine game. But that doesn't mean it's a plain copy-paste of other games. While the core gameplay will be very close to the DM / EoB / Grimrock lineage, I'm putting a lot of attention to details such as character development, and eventually lore, to give the game more depth and enough complexity for RPG veterans. Which amongst other things means a greater focus on numbers and text.

I've just posted an update on the blog, after taking a short break from the project this automun I'm back on track.

Cool things - got Hexen/Heretic/DMoM&M.
Bad thing - it's made by the people who made Dead Island - most boring game I've ever met.

:rpgcodex:The shitposting is epic in this 2 pages long thread, most of it is dumbfuckery that reads:

"It vaguely reminds me of some other game that i did not enjoy, therefore its going to be shit"

Exactly. It even uses similar enemy types (Minotaur/straightjacket zombie) and sounds. Granted it's in alpha/beta whatever but... for anyone thinking this will be something other than medieval Dead Island you're mistaken.

Mount & Blade has some pretty awesome combat. As well as a decent number of characters on-screen at any one time. The RPG shite is all broken or incomplete but the basic gameplay is pretty sweet.

I was amazed at the Mount & Blade combat system as well - back at the time when TES:Oblivion came out which was much inferior in combat. Unfortunately it got old very soon soon as everything else lacked and the lifeless characters, procedurally generated content degraded gameplay to pointless robotic battles. It doesn't seem like anything has changed til now.

Regarding Hellraid: can't help but it seems (for what it is: a fun coop arcade rpg) much better than Dead Island. The consistency looks better from what I've gathered in the short footages and interviews. Same as Dying Light being much more atmospheric (judged by some half hour gameplay footage) than Dead Island.

It's Dead Island combat. Have you played Dead Island? While it's sort of fun to crush a zombie skull it isn't as challenging as M&B.

Looks fun; yeah a bit like Dead Island but that is not bad thing for me.
If it turns to be Diablo in FP I will be more than happy to support this.
Never played mount and blade but IMO the finest FP melee mechanics are from the tragicaly underrated Riddick games and the mediocre Messiah
