So Fenicks thought he would meet up with Josh last Wednesday. That didn't happen. Then he thought that they'd meet up this weekend. That didn't happen. Now Josh is saying they're going to get a cup of coffee next Wednesday. The good news I suppose is that Josh presumably wasn't killed and replaced by a skinwalker while he drove through the american south since they don't know how to use phones

His smile and optimism: gone.

They are being dickheads and implying there is still hope when there is none. It's all a big fucking lie

Worth remembering that this was the update they posted last month:

Update #37

May 9 2016

More Screens, More Info, More Stuff

Wow - I can't believe more than a whole month has passed since our last update - so hopefully you will be pleased to see a brand new batch of screenshots - some showing entirely new gameplay screens or elements and some showing the modifications, improvements, and polish we've added to existing screens.

New Screenshots
I've decided to just plop them all HERE in an imgur album since there are so many in this batch.

OK Neat - So When Am I Getting This?
That's a great question that I get asked almost everyday - we (still) don't have a concrete release date set but we're definitely getting close. Our deployment plan has not changed - and we intend to get the early versions out to the Beta group first for testing and further debugging. From there we'll move more formally to early access where all pledge levels will be able to get their hands on the game.

I will get skewered alive if I give a release prediction - so all I can say is we're definitely getting closer every day.

What Else are You Working On?
We're working on getting some voice-over work for some of the key agents, which can be tricky because if we don't get the proper tone and attitude it can come off campy. Hopefully VO will be included in the initial release but we'll keep you posted.

As always we appreciate your support and patience, please stay tuned for further updates.

Heh, sure is fun to read that now, and wow, just a little over a month has passed, sure is nice to have such good artists who can make those mockups look like a real game

I like how he mispells Danel's name in the sixth screenshot and how the forum contorted itself into knots to try to explain that as being some kind of convoluted glitch instead of evidence of lazy photoshopping.

Could you elaborate on that? I am King Dinosaur Games' biggest critic. However minor spelling mistakes do not prove that the screens are mocked up (I suspect they are though).

Is it spelled correctly in another screenshot?

If you look above the portraits in shot 6, it says "In the Court of King Dunel," where as the portrait says "King Danel." I think the idea is that if this is actually printing a name stored in a variable (what would happen in an actual game), these wouldn't be different (IE, printf("%s", king_name) and printf("In the Court of %s", king_name) wouldn't have different names popping up).

Not sure if it's Photoshop, though. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an actual mockup in Unity. A lot of people have said Unity makes it easy for people to make something that looks like a game when there's no actual game there. We've seen a number of Kickstarters where the "programmer" throws together a UI in Unity, thinks they can make a game, and then proceed to completely fall apart when they try to making something halfway playable.

Beta board is still up:

I am pretty polite to you guys even when you shit on me. If you think my postponement post was 'funny' then you should not be on my forums. I am no happier with the outcome or the postponement than you are. I'm sorry several of you have spent 50 (some of you much more) on a game that is very much in flux. I have spent an insane amount of money and Josh has spent the better part of 2 years. We are all very unhappy with what's happening.

That being said everything that happens on these forums is extra credit and there is no obligation for me to give you day by day or play by play updates. I don't know what makes you think I am any more in the loop than the majority of you - I'm clearly not. I come here out of a sense of responsibility and obligation to a project I helped start, provided time and resources for, and then handed off to a developer who I believed in and trust. I still believe and trust him even if he is an asshole that can't get his shit together.

If you think I can go into my magic safe and refund you 'in a timely manner' you are in for a very sad awakening. I won't go into the financials but other than some poverty level living for Josh for over a year now now one 'made' any money on this project. As I said I am invested for many 00s and Josh invested 2 years - time is worth more than money I think, so I think his sacrifice was much more.

I am usually a little more politically correct than this but I am annoyed at some of you more than others and Josh specifically. I'd still buy you all a beer.

Fenicks is now saying that it's possible he might need to hire another developer to help Josh finish the project. The project that he's never actually gotten his hands on, and has no idea whether or not it's just a Unity mockup thrown together in an afternoon. Also one where the programmer has been actively avoiding him, not answering his calls, and has been refusing to send him any build at all.
