The people on the beta backer forum are insane and were talking about contacting publishers on KDG's behalf

In this week's That Which Sleep news they're saying they'll defo get whatever currently functions in player's hands by august and their pet sycophant has decided to get himself made a mod again after Josh finally decided to respond to his emails. Personally I don't see why it'd take so long to rip out the ai and shove a map you can click on out the door but then I'm not a professional game designer like Josh!

They could get at least some extra funding should they place even barebones map on early access. At least something to interact with alone will be enough to reassure people that something being done

I'm not sure why you'd even need to rip the AI out of something that doesn't have turns.

It is kind of amusing how delusional the fans are:

But it's more likely that the AI has never worked before at all and it was just a smokescreen.

That would have required both A) Josh to continuously lie through his teeth in the face of the detailed technical AI questions I asked him during the two months I took over communications, and B) me, as an experienced programmer, to somehow not have noticed the alleged deception.

I know you probably think otherwise, but both conditions are bloody unlikely, their simultaneous occurrence nearly impossibly so.

If he wasn't lying for months that means they had a really cool working game with alpha testers frolicking gleefully in the meadow of Emergent Gameplay as Josh described dozens of times in his posts and then the whole thing somehow regressed to the point where we can't even complete a turn

Surely it's just a matter of "," instead of ";".
He needs just a few more months and an additional coder to find it, then everything will click, and just fall into places.

So this is nearly impossible as it'd take both A) Some guy lying, and B) Some other guy believing him?

Bloody unlikely that is mate, all together innit it'd be as improbable as the queen mum walking down the topsy turvey bricky sticky all in her starkers to conduct the quarter bong. I mean what kind of trevor would doubt the competence of a bloke who dun gave three and a half stone sovereigns for someone to make a electrified entertainment duwaly?

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Having dealt with start ups in the tech industry this appears to be a gaming version of the all too common "ambitious coder convinces people (business partners especially) that he's got something great, but he can't actually implement it". It's pretty common and not really what I'd consider a scam, the guys in on it usually fully commit themselves to the folly to the point they can't back down and then tend to end up broke and with a shot reputation.

I remember reading about the fall of Trilobyte and it was the same thing with them, they actually had good tech and a real hit (7th guest) and got millions of dollars for one of the first attempts at an online game before going down in flames not knowing how to make the leap. Just to show that this is not a Kickstarter exclusive problem.

Actually, the probability of them occurring together is rather high, since B necessarily implies A. If B, then automatically A.

+1 ST:TNG reference

Josh told me yesterday that the tech demo was mostly stable and he should be able to have something 'soon' - note i haven't seen it yet

I translate that into by the end of the Summer if we're lucky"
_________

Still not laughing, but perhaps it's just because those who backed this game are the butt of the joke. In between people talking about Fallen London, one dude has the sagacity to ask if Fenicks can confirm with his own eyes the existence of said tech demo:

-1 for the dozens of work hours I've spent on FL

trust me I've been asking to see the demo"

________

...You know going back to page 1 of that thread, here is an early post that perhaps should have been highlighted more:

Well believing me (or in me) has not gotten anyone very much in life up to this point

The reason Josh isn't showing anything is because of mean people on the forum:

I know now why Josh left. He left because he got to the point where one day he just couldn't face logging in and seeing another day's vitriol. He left because it's impossible to get any actual work done in an environment where everyone is calling you a liar or worse. And now it seems that I must leave as well.

we should be meeting tomorrow
So the smart money is on Josh skipping town

No, they'll have a "meeting" that will follow up with the usual update.

Our meeting at the local diner today went well. Josh insisted that he only had a few micro issues left to squash and that the finished product was just around the corner.

Now where have we heard this before?
