Again Fargo CLEARLY has the money to actually finance developement of a game to a point where he can FUCKING SHOW YOU SOME CONTENT instead of bringing you that piece of shit for a third time, isn't he kind of behaving like a shitlord by not doing the decent thing when him advertising himself as a non-shitlord is his main motto?

This kind of advertising works too, though, for non-Codexian people.

So you can wait for the final week of the campaign, which will fucking show some content. We already know that from the Torment campaign.

It was a great idea giving 'free' games in the first 24 hrs. Everyone who was on the fence or who may have got to it later just piled in straight away. So now it's had a great start and everyone is already thinking of it as a successful kickstarter which helps attract further attention.

That's what i'm doing actually, pledged 20$ and if i don't see enough content by the end or i don't like the content i do see i'm cancelling.

I still think what Fargo's doing is shitty though. He has a lot of goodwill/reputation and he's not doing much to back that up other than the same shitty pitch that promotes his good-guy image when he has the resources to. Which also makes him a not-so-good-guy and hypocrite.

Which is the very definition of Kickstarter participation in the first place, I think. I kinda don't understand why you make it sound like a threat.

Yeah, Fargo is a businessman, cry me a river.
All your rambling about Fargo not acting in RL as his Kickstarter persona only tells me that you guzzled the kool-aid.
I find Fargo antics entertaining, but I don't take them seriously, I am only interested in what he delivers, WL2 was mediocre but a big step in the right direction, Torment is shaping quite well, and while Bard's Tale is quite opaque in itspresentation you can always console yourself with the free game if the end result is not of your liking.
Isn't capitalism great?

Why not just make it disappear? From your take on things, it doesn't sound like you'd miss it.

In the same way you can ignore Fargo without making old school turn based RPGs disappear.

There is an handy tab at the bottom of the page that says "show ignored content".

A lot of butthurt in those comments.
Vocal minority strikes again.

I don't get it, do people really not understand the concept of marketing? By the profession's standards, this is actually a modest and up-front way to promote a product, if anything.

What take on things, there's no precedent for someone using KS for 3 games in a row, let alone for using the same shitty pitch 3 times in a row, so what does my "take on things" have to do with following a thread that keeps track of KS games?

How DARE you. I am the boss here, because I gave you 20 bucks 3 years ago. I demand daily progress reports on the status of Torment script-writing!

"This is shit, but I'm going to follow it fanatically."

Hokay, boss. Not my place to intervene.

I'm not giving my money so he can buy another Ferrari; I'll wait for a physical copy with manual, maps and shit under 10€, once I know how BT IV really is.
It's obvious this game can be produced even if Kickstarter failed (which is equally obvious that won't happen) and yet they show nothing but nice fire effects. I don't preorder smoke.

Remember, the guy at RPS saw an actual working game prototype. We'll see that too, eventually. You don't blow your load all at once on Kickstarter.

The dungeon crawler cannot be revived for it has never died! :smug:

I wonder how they're going to approach mapping out the dungeon.
Drawing maps is half the fun in these types of games, would be pretty boring if they just put an automapper in there - even if they make it require an expendable item like Elminage Gothic.

Personally, I didn't like pitch all that much. Would have appreciated at least a few mock-ups what combats going to look like etc.

But man, that video with how they are planning to do the physical puzzles looks fucking sweet.

Hey, what can you do, its inXile, so I already know they are able to deliver. We could use some more new blobbers too, so there is that. I threw 20 bucks at them. Will consider to raise the the pledge depending on updates.

Edit:

Is that right? I missed that, would love to see it. What did the RPS guys say?

It's not about whether it will be produced or not, but how. Also, it's the first 2 hours. Have some patience (if that's even the right word for holding out longer than 2 measly hours).

They already answered that in the pitch, automapper is guaranteed. (Or rather, they said they wouldn't make you draw maps.)

[You’ll need to wait until the start of June to see it in action unfortunately, since inXile still finishing up their presentation for the Kickstarter, but it’s a fully 3D world of both indoor and outdoor locations that looks like a 3DMark demo. The closest touchstones are Legend of Grimrock 2 and Might and Magic X, and it makes both of them look as retro as the games they’re building on.]

Everyone is using the same screenshot. I wonder if they really saw a prototype in action or if inXile just showed them some screenshots and said "trust us". I mean, this is the gaming press we are talking about.

Most likely they will have an old-school mode to turn the automapper off though, just like LoG has.

They described a system that's used in pretty much every dungeon crawler out there.
You give your party instructions and then they execute it as their turn order dictates.
The chief difference between it and typical blobber combat is that your party goes first followed by the enemies, rather than both going at the same time with order dictated by agility or a similar stat.

At least that's what I took away from the pitch.

What I got from it is that there might be an action-reaction-[repeat] loops following each action by each character, critters and characters probably performing out of turn, so the game state might change significantly from your first character's action to your second's.
