I've looked at the threads of the Codex's past and have not been impressed by them.

Given all the arguments that happen on the Codex on a daily basis, I've seen no proof of this.

Additionally, I'm a fan of A Man for All Seasons, Inherit the Wind, and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Of course because the Codex is still the Codex, but the Codex is its user base, if many of the current posters leave and are replaced with people from the general public, they will come with the views that are permeating and trending through our wider society. One of those views is a healthy contempt for due process, you don't get a fair hearing in a kangaroo court.

No its not nearly what it was already, reviews are far too neutral positive theres a lot of compromising, free keys and goodies being handled to the junte.Its not reviews anymore , just advertisement to anyone they befriend on tweeter . IGN dex with some cesspoll forums. Strategy gaming , jrpg subforums are very good, gazebo is very good too, but general forum ? they will drive away any sane person , if they really want to fullfill their goal, a site promoting rpgs ,friendly relationship with devs making money from advertisement , then they should and will completely remove general discussion.

No, containing shit to a nazi subforum is not nearly enough. Second step, a neutral positive review for the incoming elder's scroll 6, finally a redeeming title the codex may like, a must buy must play, a game you had genuinely hundreds of hours of fun playing . In all seriousness, it's rare that we get "free stuff", because game keys are usually given with the expectation that a review be produced on the date of the game's release, and the Codex doesn't work that fast. So there's little point, and it's better that games be reviewed by those who care enough about them to buy a copy anyway.

Moderators are pathetic people, expecially here. Anyone who volunteers to edit words from other people's posts is an asshole in my book, more so on a free speech forum. The only good moderators we had were those who did nothing, except in very rare cases where it's necessary because someone had a real breakdown.

You just also need to understand DU's position. He needs those lackeys to run the place because he cannot pay someone, so he basically lends the site to anyone who shows enough diligence.

A few thoughts:
1. If anyone believes that moderating the language and style of the forum towards "friendly" will attract developers, he is an idiot. Developers who don't come here because they consider the forum's atmosphere "hostile", "virulent", "toxic" or whatever adjective they like to use, are morons anyway, so no loss there. Developers who stalk the forum but don't post and are fishing for opinions actually benefit from lax moderation. And yes, for them it's a job. There are a few developers who take part in discussions. The rest I guess just don't find us interesting. Oh well.

2. The theory that forum staff is pushing for a "friendly" atmosphere with the goal to attract developers sounds pretty implausible to me, for the reasons explained above.

3. I don't think it's possible to change the overall reputation of the Codex, whether someone is actually set on this ludicrous mission or not.

4. Infinitron brings news, which is one thing I come for to this forum.

5. The other one is the goofballs, mostly. I actually come here for laughs, butthurt, and drama half the time. The sad fact is that most of you can't tell me anything insightful or new about RPGs even if you wanted to talk about RPGs, but I'm sometimes entertained by discussions here, whether this was the intention of posters or not. I suspect there was a period with more smart people on this forum, but they moved on after a few years, when they got older and their priorities shifted, at some point in the Codex' lifespan.

So, as long as the people who provide fun and the people who provide news are around, I'm a happy customer. Carry on please!
