I hate random drops. They serve no purpose.

I kind of like them; getting some random drop like a titanite shard from a normal baddie is good, but finaly getting that swag sword after some grinding is sweet indeed. Perhaps if you found it on a set chest it would be nice too, but it is a nice incentive for those patient enough to get it. Special weapons and items are great but so is getting great gear that is not only not overpowered but that you can base a whole build arround

I hate having to deal with the RNG God just to get stuff. Make me earn it through trials and skill, not mindless bashing of monsters.

What the fuck? For me, BSS was common droppings even at 100 Item Discovery. But, Channeler's Trident...I wanna do the dance too. :(

I just wish there was a shop or something where you could buy balder swords or tridents or pure bladestone or whatever. They could make them expensive as hell or require you to farm a whole bunch of the enemy type before they'd become available for sale, but give me some way to make progress at least. It's awful when you spend half an hour farming and get nothing out of it because the game isn't in the right mood.

One way that would be cool would be if the items were one time guaranteed drops off of black phantoms that you could spawn intentionally. Maybe through the use of some sort of consumable you get a limited amount of, so you'd have to pick and choose what you wanted to get rare drops off of, and still have to fight a tough battle to get it.

But even just stashing everything in good spots would be great. Nabbing the dragon shield or grass crest shield felt pretty awesome considering the badasses guarding them. Then there's that deathtrap room in the tomb of giants. I forget what's even in there (white slab maybe?) but fighting through like 4+ giants at once is crazy difficult. It would have been nice if they put something awesome in there, like a black knight's weapon or one of the demon weapons or something. Or if Havel's gear were guarded by something difficult (like silver knights backing up a giant sentinel or titanite demon) instead of a single mimic.

Because I am pumped as hell for DS2 and will buy DS again (for PC this time) tomorrow, I tried to learn this bad boy here on guitar:

Anyone ever tried it? It's actually a bitch to play and pretty hard with strange tuning. Would be interested if anyone tried it out! :D

What is Dark Souls PvP/Multiplayer in general like these days? If I run around in hollow form, will I get horribly wasted in duels? Are these invasions very common?

I found a very good walkthrough of the first part of the game as one of the Templar classes.

It's very helpful for anyone who's new to the game, especially since the skeleton warriors, skeleton lords and Necrolords can be quite challenging enemies for the unprepared.

On an off-topic note, I found the overall mood/style similar to Disciples II

Playing this while not having used any kind of "right thumbstick controls the camera" control scheme in like 6-7 years = a lot of walking off of ledges and then backtracking to that point again

Took over 20 minutes to beat Gaping Dragon on NG+. Decided to summon Solaire and Lautrec for this as I'd never done so the last time.

Heh, guess I'm a moron for not realizing the NPCs too are morons with no sense of self preservation. They took like maybe 15% of the life bar before leaving me to deal with it with my trusty Divine Whip +9. This boss is pathetic as fuck if you fight it without the Channeler on top. Probably easier than Moonlight Butterfly even on NG+ with its insane HP.

Solaire is EXCEPTIONALLY suicidal in this fight. Even on NG he has like a 99% chance of dying even though Gaping Dragon is one of the easiest bosses (besides Pinwheel).

I always found it hilarious how Solaire can tank anything O&S throws at him ...yet, dies quickly against joke bosses like Gaping Dragon and Centipede Demon.

I guess in defense of the CD battle, it's the lava/AI issues rather than the boss itself.

Am I the only one who solo'ed the whole game up to pikachu & snorlax? I had to come back for the soapstone FFS.
